Alternative walk along the offbeat old path past the now defunct car ferry ramp.. These cliffs below the first severn bridge can contain many small fossils.. But beware, there can be often new rock fall especially is raining.

Out for a first time fossil hunt visit. Google maps takes you to the entrance and you can park on the road.
Great scenic spot for walking or hunting fossils.

This place is excellent for fossils. The shells you find over the beach are from the Carboniferous. If you are looking for the Triassic fossils, they are in greyish rocks, with small black stones embedded. These black stones are actually coprolites, which is fossilised excrement.

Rocky estuary Beach, can walk down under the bridge at low tide. Good views.

Brilliant spot away from everything. The access walk in is perfect for wheelchair access and you can go right up to the beach. The beach is really rocky so I wouldn’t advise going further. If you’re walking or looking to loop round you can get under the old bridge, it is a bit of a scramble but passable.

Lovely walk. Currently works underway that restrict car access but park up and follow the signs for a walk. Very muddy.

Very much accessible on 6 April 2021. Access via footpath from main road a bit further up the hill from the road that is closed (due to ongoing sea defence work). Sign says closed but it’s not referring to the path that leads to the cliffs. Had a great 2 hours of fossil finding.

Nice place to take kids to look for fossil hunting, no toilets.
