The ticket office opening versus published times is a pure work of fiction. The new ticket machines are a major leap backwards in regard to one that replaced. The 07:03 to Chichester always arrives on platform 2 although the display screens have shown it as arriving on platform 4 for at least the last two years ! - considering the piped drivel that is piped via the PA system, you would like to think that at least one tweak would be possible...

A nice station before Gatwick Airport. Unfortunately there are a few issues, Platform 3 sometimes does not show trains arrival time. Staff are not at the reception/board at rush hour (Absolute basic stuff) and security sometimes leave the gates open while they go off to smoke, few meters out of the station.

Basic Victorian and therefore dilapidated station that has seen better days. Friendly helpful and surly staff, as you would expect. Long platforms do good access to carriages, regular train services that seem to always run on their own time rather than the actual timetable. Lifts available to platforms for disabled access. Very basic in terms of amenities, e.g. very small cafe or coffee bar, but waiting rooms available if you like to go on a time warp to view 1950s decor.

“Geoff” what a top gentle Man who works there has given me an amazing customer service experience this gentlemen helped me guided me to the the toilet at desperate times early hours of the morning, but he’s customer service was just amazing and helpful such a genuine man helping people with so much knowledge about London and the train line network and he’s sense of humour is top class. the world needs more people like him I am proud to be British when I see such humble amazing human beings ! We certainly need more people like him in our society

Really nice train station with long platforms for thameslink & southern trains. There are two exits & entrances here. Lifts also available to all platforms.

Terrible service. Banjo at the ticket office took a very casual attitude to the huge line of people trying to commute today. When I finally made the front of the queue he told me that he was not willing to accept cash at the desk. This is out of step with his colleague who has been selling me cash tickets at the same window for the past month. I was told to join the (even longer) queue at the machines (which had frozen for the passenger in the queue ahead of me minutes earlier that morning). There is a distinct lack of signage instructing passengers that this is the policy of the station. This on top of the inadequate information displayed on the customer information displays and the endless service delays means I only come here when I absolutely have to.

Nice station and interesting architecture - frequent stoppers on platforms 1 and 2.
3 and 4 are rarely served but have fast trains passing, so good for filming as they are still accessible unlike e.g Purley's fast platforms which are fenced off.
