Kumon Maths & English

My son, Adam attended kumon a while back for few years. He made great progress in Maths and recent 11 plus exams. Sadly we had to leave due to other commitments. The staff were very helpful and super organised. They always kept us informed of his progress through regular parent meetings and reports. They also have regular newsletter for updates and award ceremonies to reward the students .
I would highly recommend this Kumon centre.

My son has done kumon maths at Teddington for 2 years and made remarkable progress. It has definitely delivered the stretch he needed. Encouraging him to complete the booklets is a daily battle however and the cause of most arguments between us. The format is rather old fashioned, repetitive and he finds it boring. Possibly worth it considering the progress he had made but I do feel that his success has not always been recognised or celebrated. Support from the teaching team very much depends on whether you are the perfect & compliant kumon brand of family, happy to tow the kumon line.

Kumon does not replace the good work the teachers are doing at our daughter's school, but rather complements it in a structured and disciplined way. With this approach, we did not just want our daughter to succeed academically, but also to carry her appetite for learning throughout life, especially when both of us, her parents, are working full-time and can easily lose control over her studies. By using this structured approach, we ensured she continued to reach her full potential in Key Stage 2.

We had enormous help from her Kumon tutor showing us the way to exit the tunnel we seemed to have been trapped in at some point and guiding us throughout the whole process. This scheme starts at a level the child is comfortable with and the child works at their own pace. Nothing can be too much or too little for them - the level and the amount of work set is just right for them. It is reward-based as well, and we are so proud of her achievements during all this time.

I signed my 2 children (5 and 9) up for Kumon after the first lockdown and have experienced it with them both during normal schooling and during this latest lockdown. We are finding it very valuable in addition to schooling and the way it is structures ensures a strong foundation upon which they can built. My 5 year old daughter particular benefits from it and her reading has become much more fluent since starting.

We are delighted with the benefits of Kumon. Our daughter has received outstanding results in her SATS tests including full marks in her Maths SATS. We feel the Kumon is very much to thank for her progress & would recommend it. Kate W

Our daughter has joined Kumon exactly about a year ago and the point where she came now from where she was is remarkable. It is such a unique program. I can not recommend it enough. Also our teacher Fabienne is a great lady who supported us all along. Kumon became such a great habit in our daughter that if she doesn’t do it one day only, she feels the gap straight away and can’t sleep without completing the test. It surely is a Must-Do thing for every child.

We’ve been doing Kumon for almost three years. My son was struggling at school in both English and Maths. Right from the word go, Fabienne was amazing and made us feel this was going to be a team effort. She is so incredibly helpful and supportive. She is always willing to listen to me, patiently offers advice, given us impromptu maths lessons on things we had forgotten. Her work and patience has paid off. My son has gone from every intervention group possible to performing well which has boosted his confidence academically but also with his peers. I’m so grateful I’ve found her and Kumon as it really does work.

Our son started Kumon with Fabienne and her team in September 2020 and it didn’t take us long to see the value of the additional learning. He jumped up four reading levels at school, while making a similar leap in maths. As parents, we saw this progress first-hand when schools shut down again after Christmas, with home schooling in English and Maths being a lot easier than when lockdown first started. Not only was he quicker to pick up new concepts but retained new information for longer.
Beyond what he was learning from his daily worksheets, we found the biggest value came from the worksheets helping to form a twice daily learning habit. It was almost as much about engaging his brain on a daily basis - even on weekends and during holidays - than the specifics of what he was learning from the worksheets. The Kumon worksheets have now become part of his daily routine, which we hope will make it easier for him as his school work becomes more challenging.
