I got my first car here and I can ultimately say that Paul was fantastic with the customer service and knowledge. Paul made sure that the process was a thorough and enjoyable experience. Making sure that the car itself was valeted before my arrival even going above and beyond to help myself out. Couldn't recommend SMT Automotive enough especially for your first car, lovely and extremely friendly guy.

Bought a little fiat500 last month from Paul at SMT. I was a first time buyer and had been to a couple of other dealerships where I had felt there was a lot of pressure to buy on the spot even if I had made it clear I was just looking. Ended up visiting SMT due to the good reviews online and found it to be a breath of fresh air. No pressure to buy, just clear communication about the cars. Paul went with me on the test-drive and was very calm letting me know about all the features of the car.

I highly recommend SMT to anyone looking for a car especially first time buyers. I had an additional driving lesson in the fiat and the instructor was impressed enough that she asked for SMTs details.

What a friendly and surprisingly easy going way to buy a car ! Such a positive experience that I've recommended SMT to a few friends already, Paul the main salesman was relaxed and non-pressurising at all, made me feel confident that I wasn't being coerced or bullied into something I wasn't sure about, the standard of service was beyond reproach and any questions about the vehicle were comprehensibly answered and upon collection the car was beautifully presented and I was made fully aware of the warranty that came free with the purchase. A thoroughly enjoyable way of buying a car and highly recommended for anyone if you're looking for a quality used vehicle.

We recently brought a vehicle from SMT and can’t rate them highly enough. Ricky was professional, friendly and very helpful. He went above and beyond with ensuring the car was in excellent condition, supplying a full years MOT and service before my purchase. His communication was excellent throughout the sale and nothing was too much trouble. On collection of the car, Paul was also brilliant and even endorsed the sale with a bottle of wine, such a nice touch. I had no idea SMT existed until I saw their advert for an MX-5, online. The garage is on a country lane in the middle of no-where, north of Tring, but well worth a trip. Highly recommended.
Paul, the salesman, put me at ease straight away. No hard sell here. We had a chat about motorbikes (I rode my bike there), then he showed me around the car, and pretty much left me to it. I was given a nice long test drive and plenty of time to think whether the car was for me. Paul said if I wanted the car, great, but if I didn’t, no problem. I did, so we did the paperwork in his comfortable office over a good cup of coffee. It’s worth noting that there’s no wiggle room on prices.
On collection day, I was offered a lift from Tring Station, but the 3 mile walk along the canal to the garage felt like being on holiday. The complementary bottle of red was a nice touch, too.
I can’t comment on how well the warranty works and hope I’ll never need to make a claim.
All SMT’s cars seemed to be very fairly priced, and prepared to the same very high standard regardless of value.
Every car there was clean and ready to go. The general feel of the garage is that it’s well looked after by people who want to work there. I could imagine next time I wanted a new car thinking “I wonder what cars Paul has at the moment?”

Well that was a pleasant experience, I lost my car on account of a drunk driver, saw a copy of what I`d lost on the SMT site but it was way up Country, spoke to Paul and explained I was going through insurance and waiting for a payout, Paul offered me to deposit £500.00 and they`d wait until my end was sorted, all went well, they reserved the car for me for a couple of weeks, I sourced the funds but then had the decision of how to collect the car, No problem, Ricky arranged transport and the car was dropped off at my door, Always a worry when you buy a car off the net without seeing it in the flesh, but no worries, car has exceeded my expectations, fully serviced and MOT`d on sale, SMT obviously hand pick the vehicles they sell, I cannot fault the help and service I received from Paul and Ricky, so pleased I happen to chance find SMT on the net, Beautiful car in stunning condition, thanks chaps, really appreciated 10/10 for service 10/10 for quality, One very happy motorist here :)
