Absolute scam. Had the joy of buying a car that was advertised and sold as impeccable, with spotless MOT, not even an advisory, only to take it to a private garage and find out that it had extensive damage, multiple safety issues that could not/were not worth being fixed. Brought the car back with written proof from professionals following a diagnosis and advised the manager that it was essentially not safe to drive, to be received with a lot of scepticism and doubt. The funniest part is that less than a week after returning it, the car is already advertised again on the website. :))
Take the garage next door as a red flag to how truthful the checks they so avidly claim to perform on the car pior to selling it really are.

I can assure you there was no vindictiveness in the reviews but honest opinions,what can be expected when a deal goes wrong.
Sadly cannot directly reply to your response so i did it via edit.
I appreciate you refunded the vehicle but saying it is not your obligation is not exactly right. By trading standards/consumer rights it is indeed your obligation to do so .
The “coulds ” and “possibles” may be far fetched in your eyes given it is a used car however they were based on a highly reputable garage’s consultation whose opinion I relied upon more than once. The “it is a used car whit relatively high mileage therefore you shouldn’t expect certain things” sadly is a blanket traders often hide under. Nobody is,including us,expect spotless vehicle when buying a used car however we can expect a certain standard to be met. If the vehicle has issues,those should be presented in the advert so buyers can decide accordingly. These issues started showing days after the purchase,not weeks nor months suggesting they were present for a while. Now I accept you may have not know about some of them however I have difficulty believing a highly reputable company such as you stated didn’t do due diligence.

I would not say scam however I believe if someone talks the talk should also walk the walk. Your salesman made a promise stating during the MOT all issues what potentially come up will be fixed including advisories. This car would have not passed an MOT when we took it to professionals. Hence why they suggested to return it if there was a warranty.

Unfortunately given the initial disappointment of your garage’s mechanical work I have decided to opt out of a second (potential) disappointment what I believe was the right choice in this scenario.

I am glad the new owner of the vehicle is happy with it,hopefully will have better luck than us. Or different expectations maybe.

We have recently completed on another sale of a Range Rover Evoque, from Gerry Hill. The service has been second to none, as indeed has the after service communication. Gerry, Ian and Ryan have all gone above and beyond for us, in every way. Nothing is ever too much trouble, it's 1st class service every step of the way. I wouldn't dream of buying my cars from anywhere else, and fully recommend them to anyone.

What can I say, great service, great car, very knowledgeable and answered every question we had.

I was looking at a Mercedes SLK on offer, and because I've had an interest in cars and am really fussy about what I buy, I like to give the car a thorough going over. Nothing was too much trouble for Ian and the owner, Geraint. They opened their workshop (closed for Christmas holidays), put the car on the ramp and provided lamps so that I could inspect the underside for corrosion and fluid leaks. I was there for hours! They even stayed open past their normal closing time. And I got a great cup of tea!!
These folk really went the extra mile. They are a breath of fresh air in the industry. Wish everyone was like them!

I bought two cars from Gerry Hill in November and at the time left a 5 star review praising Gerry and Ian for their excellent service and for making the whole car-buying experience easy and unpressurised. About 2 months after I had a problem with the engine mngt light on one of our cars. I contacted Ian who said "just get it sorted". After a few weeks waiting for the part (from the dealer not GH) I got the replacement part fitted at my local garage and sent the invoice to Ian. It was paid and cleared into my bank account within 48 hours ! I was very pleasantly surprised at the speed and efficiency, no nonsense, no argument, no discussion way this was dealt with by Ian on behalf of GH - an excellent after sales service, they did just what they said they would do, a great example of after sales service, thank you !
