Bolthole Retreats

This was our first booking with Bolthole Retreats team and based on the amazing experience we will be back regularly. We recommended them to many of our friends already looking for a break. We stayed at the beautiful and cosy Corn Close cottage, which we fell in love with as soon as we stepped in the doorway. It has everything you would need and more - an ultimate home from home. With plenty of our own outdoor amenities and even a brook to explore, we reluctantly made ourselves leave the cottage to explore the surrounding towns and the beauty of Cotswolds. There is so much to see and do just the short drive away, so even the location of Corn Close is spot on. We will definitely be back again and for longer!

Lovely short break in the shepherd's hut. You need to be organised so that you can work with the space, but that wasn't an issue for us. It was useful that we are not that tall. Anyone over 6ft might find sleeping awkward. The hot tub is easy to use and reaches a nice temperature in about 90 minutes. Be prepared to see a bit of nature (e.g. a pheasant) and be prepared to be visited by the owner's dogs (friendly).

The road to the lodge is single track with some passing points. We found it safe to drive and walk. We walked to the Butcher's Arms which took 15 minutes. Lovely food and drink, with big portions.

Overall, would definitely recommend as a base for Cotswold walking or just as a retreat.

Absolutely fantastic! We loved the Laurel Cottage in the Cotswolds, very well done! Welcoming from the moment we walked thru the door.
The cottage is very clean, the decor is updated and comfortable. After a long day of seeing all the near and far villages this was a perfect place to come back to and relax. Everything is perfect, we just enjoyed every minute.
We absolutely loved the shop in the village, the owners were just wonderful, helped us with accessing Wi-Fi to locate the key for the cottage in the very detailed information guide,( my fault I forgot to take a picture of the instructions and lost service on my phone) needless to say, they could not have been more helpful! They also have wonderful lattes in the mornings, or anytime really!
We only wished we could stay longer. 100% recommend the Laurel Cottage!

Brilliant experience - Bolthole Retreats were excellent- well organised, quick to respond and super helpful! So from the very start everything was set up for a great family holiday.
Singer House was equally impressive. The house stands proudly at the end of the high street, surrounded by beautiful buildings, small shops, restaurants and country pubs. Perfect location with parking outside the house easily available. The house itself is fabulous - it genuinely felt like a 5 star hotel, it is beautifully & comfortably furnished & the careful use of lighting makes it instantly relaxing. The kitchen opens up to a courtyard garden which provided the perfect spot to enjoy a bite to eat in the sunshine. All in all one of the best cottages I’ve rented & one I would definitely return to!
The only tiny ask I would make to improve the experience is that some comfortable garden chairs would be welcomed for relaxing in during the summer months - whilst the dining chairs / bench were perfect for eating outside they didn’t lend themselves well to relaxing in the courtyard with a book - apart from that it truly was perfection! Thank you!

We stayed at The Hayloft in Winchcombe for three nights in August 2022. The house and garden were stunning. It was clean, quiet and had excellent facilities. The booking process was smooth and the price was very reasonable. We highly recommend this house as a place for a family holiday.

I stayed with my family of 4 at Little Elms in Stow on the Wold. It was amazing, a relaxing retreat. The house is beautifully renovated and the town has many restaurants, coffee shops, and pubs. It was a great stay for day trips with so much to see in the Cotswolds. I highly recommend Little Elms.

All in all the perfect customer experience from start to finish - Let me first start with the abundance of self catering cottage booking platforms on the Internet. It is hard to find a trustworthy, transparent and/or well-organized website.

I found the overview of available cottages very neat, same goes for searching and verifying the available dates for a specific cottage. Terms and conditions are easily to find (especially with COVID lurking around everywhere it was a must-have to read). What is also unique is the 3D / 360° view of the cottage! I don't know if this is available for every offered cottage, but wow!

After I booked, it's easy to manage the booking, fulfill the payment and Bolthole Retreats even offers town guides for the best travel preparations. I am Dutch and I transferred the remainder of the payment, but in an incorrect way, and Bolthole Retreats helped me very well. It was a huge amount of money, so you could understand my worries and relief.

At arrival everything was prepared, including an information map (which I already browsed online in my booking environment). The owners were expecting us, everything was perfectly arranged.

100% recommend - even to non-Brits.

We stayed in the Outbak Shepards Hut, Cheltenham. We had the most amazing stay, perfect location and absolutely spotless. David our host was so helpful and kind. The hot tub was perfect and always so warm. Would 100% return and would recommend to all!
