Brought a Micra in with electrical faults, had to ring and ring six months later (£800 in at this point). Turns out thier manager is only in on Saturdays and no-one told her we called repeatedly for weeks, this continued throughout our entire ordeal with all-trans and we told at the end it was our fault. So we turn up six months later, it's been sat outside the entire time and only manages to leave the car park. Already in worse condition.
So another four months goes by with no response from all-trans, apart from to say give us just a bit more money and it will work. They repeat this until they got another £500 from my girlfriend. So at nearly a year we return to find it had been sitting outside not moving for all the time, they had just left it, two of the tyres were flat when we arrived. The manager refused to give us any kind of refund and was very dismissive, basically a scammer without care. We had payed them well over a grand for it to be left motionless for almost year and it worked worse then when we took it in!
We were rang a month ago to be told they haven't even scrapped it, like we arranged to, but are keeping it to run tests and practice, or something. Basically getting thier money's worth from my girlfriends car after taking her money. They didn't even volunteer the info, we found out after ringing about the log book. These people, particularly the manager (Jill), don't care about you or your car, and will gladly take your money without a care to whether they have actually delivered a service!
When we collected the car, a few miles down the road the engine management light came on. Believing this to be related to the work done, we returned the car to All-Trans who informed us that they would be able to diagnose the fault - but only 4 working days later.
I went into All-Trans the day after, enquiring whether this was correct, as all we required was a read-out of the codes in order to establish if the problem might have resulted from the works undertaken. The mechanic that day managed to do a reading of the fault codes and indicated that he would perform further diagnostics on the original date indicated. The fault codes were plentiful and showed some inconsistencies - At least one code related to an optional extra that the car does not even have.
We scouted some forums and rang some other garages, who all indicated that this was most likely due to the battery being sub-optimal. We suggested this to All-Trans, however they tested the battery and insisted that this was in working order and not the cause of the faults.
They performed further diagnostics and provided me with a quote of up to approx. £400.00 to diagnose the problem further. They wanted to strip down several wiring looms in order to find the problem. We rang three different garages who found this to be a ludicrous way forward and we were advised by these garages to pull out immediately as all symptoms were pointing to an undercharged battery and the proposed method of diagnostics was unnecessary at the minimum.
When we collected the car, we were presented with a £60.00 bill for the initial diagnostics. This was not mentioned to us prior and we were unaware that we would have been charged for the diagnostics. After a discussion with the mechanic, we did not have to pay as it was evident that the read-out of the fault codes was faulty and the diagnostics were not a true reflection of the vehicles problems.
We ended up charging the battery, the codes are gone; the car has had nearly one thousand miles since without any issues and it has received an "all clear" from Jaguar itself. In other words, this garage is not to be trusted on diagnostics as they do not listen to suggestions and try to find convoluted ways of fixing a simple error. If we had been naïve and trusted the mechanic's word, we would have been nearly £500.00 out of pocket and with the problem still not rectified.
I have given two stars instead of one as the initial work surrounding the condenser was problem free. The finance package was useful and we did not have to pay for the incorrect diagnostics done - however I could not give more than two stars due to the inadequate performance on the diagnostics of the fault after the initial repair.
Their work has always been of excellent standard.
They make my wife feel comfortable and welcoming so she’s relaxed when going their for any car related problems.
I have always found the service and advice first class.
This was epitomised by my visit there earlier today with a issue which they were able to sort out straight away.
I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.
