Practical Car & Van Rental

An absolute bunch of amateurs. Do not recommend to deal with them at all. Not even aware of their own insurance policies.

I booked a car with them for the next day to get to an important interview, having provided all the necessary details over the phone and was assured that my details are fine and the car will be ready for me next morning, upon signing of all the relevant paperwork. I get there next morning just to be told that they can't insure me because of the EU license and me being 24, despite it being "just fine" yesterday. One day they say one thing, other day - another. Makes you wonder what other policies they are clueless about. I ended up failing to arrive to the interview and had to reschedule, making me look unorganised.

Very, very unprofessional from Practical. Not acceptable line of business in this day and age.

Absolutely disgusting service, completely unacceptable. I have an agreement with this company that I pick up a van every Friday which I need to use for my catering business every Saturday.
The first 3 weeks it was fine but today, which is a Friday, I have been called at 4.20pm to be informed they do not have a van for me today.
This has given me 40mins to search local companies for a van to collect tonight and drop off tomorrow and there is nothing available so I CANNOT WORK TOMORROW.
This job on Saturdays is my only income and now because of this company I have lost this weeks work and the minimum £350 profit I would have made for my family.
On top of this I will be even further out of pocket as I still need to pay for my pitch that I'm not using, plus all the sauces and mixes I made this morning will now be going in the bin.
I can't get across how mad I am at these people.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS

We have just used this company for the second time for a car rental.
We have found them to be extremely helpful and professional at all times with a genuine concern for the individual needs of the client.
Collection and return of vehicle has been a smoothe and virtually seamless process with pre-prepared documentation and efficient handling and charging/refund procedures.
Having to extend the rental period was a fast and efficient phonecall to their Hatfield offices.
The vehicles have been spotless and in tip-top condition.
What with their highly competitive pricing structure and courteous and efficient customer service we cannot recommend this local car hire company enough.
Thanks to Neil and the team. Special thanks to Zoe and Paul who add the extra 'touch' of quality in customer service, making a good team a GREAT team!

Really pleased with the price and the service. Much cheaper than other big chain options in the area, and Paul was very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Car was a good runaround, easy to drive and decent fuel economy. Would definitely use again.

Top marks for these guys. A really great service from the word go, nothing is too much trouble for them. Always deal with a gentleman named Paul who is really helpful and informative. As for the vans we’ve hired, always new and well maintained, just a shame we have to give them back!!!!

Excellent service. No add ons pressure sales. Polite and friendly staff.

Check in / out process uses electronic photos to check for damage which picks up little marks not visible to normal users, do reduces the risk of damage charges you are not responsible for.
