However, on returning the vehicle it was a whole different story, the staff member that did the original check wasn't there and denied it when they phoned him, so the (again) moody staff charged me for the broken part on a vehicle we guarded constantly so it wouldn't get damaged! Not happy considering I thought the hire was overpriced to start off with!
Wasn't a nice experience at all, I learnt though to take a high resolution camera to take photos of the vehicle and to check over it carefully - wont be hiring from this company again though, found cheaper elsewhere anyway
I do find it is key to phone the Beeston branch directly - using the 0115 number, NOT booking through the website or through the central booking office.
It took them 2 hrs to swap a van for me and in the end i lost my entire day.
DISASTER IS NOT THE WORD TO USE FOR THEM
I found the reception staff are very rude , I witnessed them laughing at customers that had just left the building very unprofessional and unpleasant to witness.
They need to brush up on customer care skills, make people feel welcome and get people back on the road as quickly as possible.
We was not informed any rough idea on how long our repair was going to take, in all honesty it was something I could of done myself in less that 5 minutes ,a warning light needed turning off that was all.
They seem to busy looking for something else that they could charge you for instead of concentrating on the problem it was brought in for.
We sat waiting 2 hours.
Government needs to do a better job at stopping rental companies like these ripping people off.
I was paying 220 a week for a Sprinter for work and paid 800 deposit.
Handed my van back with minor 1 scrape on the read door step, 1 minor scratch on the side panel....
After handing the van back over, Got an email stating they are not refunding my deposit because the damages was over £1200. Which is a lie, damage wouldnt come up to £100 to repair
I just asked northgate to have a look at it as I have an intermitant fault with my clutch and the van dropping out of gear. I also had an oil leak.
Northgate had the van for just under 3 hours and all they did was jet wash the engine and fix 'where we think the leak is coming from'.
The clutch didn't disengage on the drive from the carpark to the garage, so therefor I'm lieing and there isn't a clutch issue.
I am currently trying to find somewhere else to rent a van from until I can purchase 1.
But please don't use northgate or be very careful, long as they have your money that's all that matters.
