I’m not someone who writes reviews but this place deserves it! Made our first visit to the vet today and Dr.Alex and his staffs were extremely welcoming, patient and kind. He was ready to address all our queries with no rush. He ensured our very anxious golden retriever takes his time and settles in after which he examined him. It was an extremely good experience with them!

Awful reception staff, told incorrect information, verified by two other vets, tried to get a message to the vet to stop them losing more business, and another unhelpful young man who thought sarcasm was the answer to deal with a member of the public who wanted to make the OWNER aware of the misinformation being passed to members of the public by rude reception staff, who do not care less if they lose their employer thousands of pounds of money, sadly these people forget who pays their wages, and how hard they had to work to become vets to help animals. We are just people who can be spoken down to for these front desk staff. For dentals on senior dogs, blood work is ADVISED NOT STATUTORY, especially on a healthy 8 year old dog. Please train your staff to give correct information, if they must insist in giving it, and also in being polite to possible new clients with a whole business of rescue dogs ready to bring business to you, lost due to rudeness, sarcasm and incorrect information.

Edit: the clinical response from the surgery shows how they approach these issues. Asking me to send a written grievance when they've clearly seen this review.

Good until it really wasn't. Our Dog recently died. He wasn't well for about 10 days and we called and kept getting told 'we'll send your vet a message' and 'they'll call you back'. They didn't. We had a horrible and distressing time. We ended up at another vet then a specialist and it was horrible but what was frustrating was the total lack of care from Elm House. They knew something was wrong as we kept telling them and they ignored it and only offered an appointment when we said we had one elsewhere. Additionally, as our main vet our dog's ashes were returned to them for us to pick up and it was a genuinely distressing experience doing that today. we arrived and were left waiting without a word in the corridor with two owners flirting loudly and their crying dogs getting no attention and blocking the whole corridor. Then a young man asked us if we wanted our dog's ashes passed through the window. we felt they really wanted us outside before handing him over. In the end they handed our dog's ashes and other items over to us in the car park in a box with very little said. I feel bad for the young man as I don't think he knew what to do and it was left to him to handle. It felt dismissive which is exactly how it felt the last two weeks our dog was alive. Jo is a lovely vet who our dog liked a lot and we appreciate her but getting an appointment was a nightmare at Elm house and I have to wonder if they could have spared our dog's suffering if they'd seen him when we first asked for help. Elm House needs to learn a little more compassion. Additionally we repeatedly paid for our dog to have deep ear cleaning due to an infection which cost a lot of money over the last year and accomplished nothing. Two appointments with a specialist, doing what we thought elm house was doing, and it was sorted. I wish they'd been honest about what they could accomplish as our dog was in unnecessary distress with his ears.

They were great with my dog and managed to handle him very carefully and gave great advice on the dog. Just hard to park. Plus they sell you “proscriptions” products for more of a price then getting them online or else where.

Chose Elm House as they came recommended time and time again from several people. On the handful of times I have had to use them, I have usually been able to get an appointment within a day or two of phoning up. Usual wait time for the appointment is 5-10 minutes. Usual business model up selling things but can’t blame them for that. Staff are friendly
Parking on site let’s it down and usually end up getting parked in by another car.

As expected. Very nice vet. Vaccination and initial advise were prompt. Not open on weekends but have phone forwarding to another place at Witham which advised by looking at email photos of injury as it was not necessary to travel and pay 300 gbp for a scratch. They also had tie up with insurance as its too expensive to pay vets otherwise.
