I've always taken my pets there it's been 6 years now all the staff are friendly, if you want something a little bit more extra where you can build a good relationship and trust this is the vets for you and your pets or pet.

Been with downes for all my pets for the last 5 years. Van has knowledge and ability second to none and the dogs love him - even when he has to give an ouchie. Never had a negative moment!

All the staff are friendly and professional. Not only willing to go the extra mile but you can see they truly care about every pet.

Thanks.

Quite a good vet at Thorpe bay medivet. Vet told me that my 12 week old labradoodle puppy has a cleft palate and suggested I should have my puppy put to sleep. I was SO upset at the way this was handled as I have a very close bond with my puppy coz I was there, puppy sitting, a friends dog who has 6 pups. Unfortunately one died and I hand reared the runt of the litter tube feeding every couple of hours. When the dogs it ting was over the dogs owner contacted me and asked if I wanted the runt puppy so because I absolutely adore ANY animals, and the bond I felt for this cute tiny little I took up her offer and bought my tiny boy when he was 8 weeks old and when the vet said that he needed an op or he could die it tore my heart out. I've been reading up on it and I've read puppies born with a cleft palate who don't have the op have 98% chance of surviving to a good old age. My puppy eats well, he's gaining weight now, very quickly so there is no chance that I will risk losing him by having any op. The stories about the condition where really uplifting and now feel I'm really doing the right thing. With the price of living going through the roof how do these vets have the cheek to be charging £5000 for an op that may not work or it may die while having it. I believe the vet really wasn't bothered about my puppy and that the only interest was to get money from me and my husband who are both pensioners who are not well at the moment and have been given a reason to get up in the mornings. We simply adore our little bandit and will always make sure he will be loved , and will keep him as happy as he can be. This vet was ready to put my 12week old puppy to sleep and I cried and cried when I got home . I will not have my baby put down xx

Friendly and helpful reception staff, but vet seems to push for more treatment and seemed keen to make money.

Took our 8mth kitten in with a temperature, 2 visits with 2 different vets and £360 later with no diagnosis, they kept saying he likely had a liver shunt and wanted to keep him in on a drip for 2 days for £1295. One trip to another vet suggested he likely had FIP and his bloods confirmed it a week later that he is dying from wet FIP. Apparently Medivet find this "hard to diagnose" in spite of how common it is. Money grabbers. Do not take your beloved pets to this practice.
