To me it just seemed like they wanted to take advantage of every way they could make money from my pup.
We took her to Aylsham vets to a 3.30pm appoint ment as she was panting and shaking. We mentioned a concern regarding her stomach area. Due to Covid restrictions our 8 year old greyhound was taken without us present to the vet Vanessa while we waited in our vehicle outside the practice.
Sometime later Vanessa came out saying that she believed our dog had a neck injury and asked to take blood tests. We agreed. We waited some time for the results which she believed were related to muscle injury and although some results seemed high wasn't concerned. We took our dog home with pain relief medication. Vanessa told us to call if she seemed worse.
Once we returned home around 5pm we gave our dog some food which she refused so we were unable to give this pain relief to her.
At 5.45 out dog started screaming in pain and couldn't stand up. We called Aylsham vets who did not answer but we're transferred to Taverham Vets who could hear her screaming in agony over the phone. They told us to bring her immediately. My husband lifted her into the back of our car by this time her breathing was laboured and in the 10 minutes it took to get to vets she was clearly dying.
Taverham were amazing they literally ran with our dog to put her on life support. Shockingly less than 15 minutes after arrival they found she had a large haemorrhage into her stomach. With such a poor prognosis and how poorly she was we had no choice but to agree to euthanasia.
We used the Aylsham Vets complaints procedure but no responsibility was accepted by the practice manager which was exactly the response we expected.
We were and are utterly devastated by our loss and although we could of taken our complaint to mediation we decided after much soul searching to let our beautiful girl rest in peace. No apology will make up for the untimely death of our beloved pet. People can make there own judgement but our opinion of this vet was she showed no empathy and a serious lack of good practice resulting in total misdiagnosis of our dog 🐶
