Skeldale Veterinary Hospital – Medivet Thirsk

Skeldale has received a lot of bad feeling after being taken over by Medivet, but I find them excellent. We are fortunate not to have to go that often, but they recognise my dogs immediately and we always get a personal, friendly and professional service.

Excellent veterinary practice, cannot recommend highly enough. I took one of my rescues here who is very emotionally damaged. They went above & beyond to make her comfortable & have as stress free time as possible while they treated her. Wish I had found them sooner.

Had such a great experience at Skeldale given the awful circumstances of our dog being severely unwell in the middle of the night. We completely trusted the vets and nurses and they cared so well for him. We were made to feel at ease at every step. Thank you so much

Gone seriously down hill since it became a chain. Had some major issues with the procedures and treatment given to our dog, which they stopped just short of admitting. Then called in to discuss their error, we were made to feel like we had fabricated the whole thing. We were not even invited to sit, but stand and discuss over a vet table. After what happened and what they did or didn’t do (allegedly for legal reasons of course) I wouldn’t set foot back in this practice again. We have since found another local vet practice that is a breath of fresh air in comparison and as an added bonus, cheaper too.

Upon our arrival we were made to feel at ease at a very stressful time, our dog was to be hospitalised over the weekend and our worries/ concerns were dealt with in a warm professional manner. We were kept informed of our dogs progress throughout the weekend and were even sent a little WhatsApp video ( thanks Cassie) lovely touch. All in all I can't speak highly enough of Skeldale Vets, very professional but with a very human touch. Highly recommended, Thanks again to all the staff. Mark,Andrea & Tara.

I have always used this vet and have been very happy with all the staff and they have always made me appiotments that i can keep.

Ridiculously expensive and head vet can be patronising and plain rude tbh. there are some pleasant vets and staff members here however. I feel it’s not the same since becoming medivet.

Words are insufficient to explain my experience- it was amazing! Elizabeth and her team are outstanding, caring, efficient and kind hearted people who put the animal’s welfare a priority whilst supporting their owners in time of need. Such a wonderful experience during a vey distressful time.
