Excellent service. Helpful and friendly reception staff and vet. Our cat was in for neutering and they kept us informed, called us once the procedure was done to tell us how it went and kept him until we were able to pick him up. Very positive experience. Particularly recommend Jess.

Use to be amazing but have really gone down-hill recently. The admin staff and vets there use to be so good but now everytime I go, I see a different surgeon. The lady called Hayley in reception is no longer there and she use to be so good. The new admin staff are quite unprofessional. Just another place looking to make money rather than actually caring for our pets now which is a shame.

Absolutely disgusted with the Vet consultation, sedation and Groom my pet dog received!! Would 100% definitely NOT RECOMMEND these vets to carry out this service for anyone else.
Price very extortionate. From booking original appointment to dropping my dog off, the price changed 3 different times!!
Dropped my dog off 08:20 in morning and he was rushed through last thing before tea time!!!

Found injured dove, tried RSPCA etc, didn't want to know. (In a right panic)Tried several places, no help. Only one left i could find was Petherton, brilliant! Instantly on the case. Can't thank them enough. To be honest with you I was very upset for the lack of help out there. Petherton Veterinary Clinic on Newport Rd showed a genuine interest in care for animals domestic or wild. Thank you .

Sadly 5 years ago my husband wrote a wonderful review about this vets, now I’m having to share this veterinary practice has gone down hill so much !
Staff have changed and now very unprofessional
Out for money only
Told we had to get our puppy re vaccinated due to us not bringing him for booster no reminder for booster or told when it had to be done on last visit
… fine ok booked him
In for first jab and second my husband was ten minutes late for second jab was told even though they have a 15 minute late policy they can’t see him as busy and as the injection Has to be 4 weeks on the dot he’ll have to have the first jab again !!
Called to complain and was rudely spoken to by the manager told I wouldn’t be refunded for the 2nd jab he never had and that she suggests I buy a diary !

Whenever you go there receptionists are rude the whole practice is filthy dirty with needles laying around
This used to be a clean vets with lovely helpful staff it’s gone completely down hill recently !

Update
I have now received a letter to tell me both my dogs are no longer welcome at the practice and

A satisfactory professional relationship between a client and his/her veterinary surgeon must be founded on the basis of mutual trust and confidence. Due to recent interactions it is clear that there is no longer such a basis to our relationship.
We therefore give you two weeks' notice that our professional services will no longer be provided for your animals and ask you to seek the services of another veterinary practice.
As soon as you have registered with another practice of your choosing, we shall be pleased to supply them with copies of all clinical records we have for your animals to ensure continuity of care.

If you have a pet then you need to register them here, run, don't walk as i am in complete disbelief that they even have room to take anymore pets on considering the high level of service they provide. Pethertons recently took on the care of our 17 year old dog which is incredibly kind in itself due to his age. However, they kindly listened to our concerns without judgement, assessed him on his health and not his age, took the lead to switch care from our previous vet (who had the bedside manner of jack the ripper) as they knew how stressed snd upset we were and have shown both him, and us, more care, compassion and understanding in the last two weeks than we have ever had. Our little furry best friend won't be with us forever, however, we are now completely comfortable in the knowledge that he is receiving the best care and that their advice is sound, reliable, non judgemental and they are also the absolute epitome of professionalism. I cannot speak more highly of Kate, the lovely receptionists and all the other lovely staff we have encountered so far. Pethertons are a shining example of everything a vet practice should be, to find them has been an absolute godsend and we shall be forever grateful for them. Thank you all, the work you do does not go unnoticed and is head and shoulders above the rest ❤️❤️

Really frustrated. This was my 1st visit after registering my dog having been with a previous vet for 10 years. (Just moved to Cardiff).

The consultation fee was clear. Then, the cost was explained for the tests. Absolutely fine with that.

After a few minutes the plan was explained, I was advised to add another test onto the treatment for another £50+.

Of course, I'm going to take that on the advice of the vet, no issue as that was communicated with me and I could make that choice.

I paid over £200 for the invoice and was told to bring a urine sample back asap. Absolutely no issue with the service so far.

I have brought the sample back today and was charged £20. I thought there was a mistake since I paid for everything discussed with the vet yesterday.

No extra charges were ever discussed until further treatment. I have also been told that it will be an additional £50 to send the sample off for testing, again, this was not explained previously by the vet.

That's 2 further charges that were never explained to me during the first visit.

Really frustrated when costs are not even discussed and just surprise you.

I never knew how good my previous vets were.

Friendly staff. Really helpful vet. But not discussing costs is very poor.
