I had a appointment today at 4:45 p.m., I arrived 4:57p.m. Unfortunately vet didn't want to see my dog anymore. I got the information that other patients are coming in. I stood there another 10min, nobody arrived. Receptionist had also time to go twice to vet and ask him/her questions, when in the mean time they could just help my dog. But it is all about money, isn't it? Of course they were happy to book appointment for next day for another 40£.

The last experience was the worst in that the professional service you come to expect was not evident eg vet was in surgery my dogs were taken one at a time from the room leaving my other dog very distressed. Clearly staffing levels are not adequate enough to provide the service expected I booked my appointment 6weeks ago and expected to see a vet for check up and injections and not fed information back to me by a third party. The cost of the service is high and for this reason you would expect a top class service

Quite frankly was not surprised to see so many of the negative and quite scathing comments about Vets4Pets in Newport and some of its staff. Appointment booked for 16:45 and £40 paid up front to check our dogs eye, received a call that afternoon from Vets4Pets to inform us that the appointment would be delayed due to an emergency. Couldn't give us an estimated delay time so instead of sitting in the waiting room with our dog on a hot day, turned up at 16:52 only to be told we'd missed our slot. I explained to the lovely receptionist that we'd been informed of the delay hence why we were slightly late but she didn't care.. I volunteered to wait until one became available but was told nothing would be available that day but was assured that I would be contact the next day to rearrange. Waited until lunch time, nothing, so I had to contact them. I asked them for a new appointment only to be told I would need to pay another £40 as I had lost my initial deposit because of turning up late!! Vets4pets - you need to understand that our pets are like family and are not there for your profit!! I've asked for an official explanation from management as to why they refuse to return my deposit or at least use it to allow me to book another appointment. I doubt i'll get a response so have to draw my own conclusions...Greed!

Very unfortunate that I have to write a negative review as I don't like to but this concerns the deposit policy of the practice which is independently set. Appointment was at practice opening time of 8.30am but unfortunately was 12 minutes late after unexpectedly aving to clean up ill cat who appointment was for and then congestion on road. This is the first time this has happened being late despite attending practice multiple times before over 5 years and always being early or on time. It was explained that the practice deposit of £40 is lost if you arrive at the practice later than 5 minutes after appointment time with no exceptions despite my repeat business. No chance to reschedule or merely lose a proportion of the deposit. Cat was sick and had fecal matter on him at this point and could / would not treat him was not life threatening but affects the quality of life of the cat. Not the fault of the practice but it just goes to show its a business and trust built over time does not matter anymore and I can't not afford to just lose £40 (seems to be consultation fee) with current cost of living so as I say to my kids not angry just disappointed. I'm gonna go back to proper independent vet, I would have been happy to pay extra but there was no wiggle room . I can see other similar reviews so it looks to be an issue and if I had multiple missed appts i would understand but 1 time after over 5 years of business / appointments is disappointing. Could this policy not be reviewed and patient history taken into consideration..... apparently not so I just wanted to put it out there for anyone who is considering the practice.

Just tried to book my dogs in for their annual booster even though they are on the vac4life they want me to pay £40 per dog deposit we have 6 dogs £240 .. who as that sitting in their account with this cost of living crisis .. o but I’ll get it back in 4 weeks once they have had their booster and the vets as made some interest on it .. imagine they are
doing this with every customer how much interest they get.. 😡the whole idea of paying in advance is so you don’t have to pay again .. unreal …
If I would put a 0 I would
UPDATE— EMAIL from Mr McCarthy the Vet Dear Mrs Evans,
with regards your latest complaint, it is clear that you have not been happy with our practice for a long time (especially with your involvement of the Royal College). I feel it is better for both parties that we remove you from our system and that you look for care for your animals at another practice.

Phoned up half an hour before my appointment to reschedule for a bit later as my dog has had a bad night and I wasn't able to get there for 8.30am I was told that I couldn't reschedule and I've lost my 40 pound deposit. Now I have to arrange another appointment and pay another 40pound and my dog had to wait even longer to get the treatment he needs absolutely disgusting

Phoned up today to book our dog in for annual booster was advised i need to pay £40 deposit! Explained i didnt agree with this as and how much they have gone down hill since covid, when they was closed during covid our dog didnt have his annual booster due to them not seeing vets thats fine but to be told i would have to pay x amount because his booster was missed not down to our fault but because of covid. Our payment plan never stopped during covid so it was a very poor excuse there end. Looking through the reviews over the last year or so surely they can see that a lot of customers are not happy, we have cancelled our plan and changed vets, terrible customer service not how you should treat customers that been using you for years
