I was left waiting for 50 minutes after my pre-booked appointment when I went to pick up my car, whilst walk-ins were immediately attended to. The email regarding payment was never sent, meaning I paid via chip and PIN on the day. I asked about documentation regarding warranty, MOT and roadside assistance and was told I would receive them all by email. Luckily, I asked about the complimentary 5-day insurance which had not been arranged despite me saying at the initial meeting that I was planning on driving home and arranging to amend my cover from there. Due to the added hassle, I rang my insurance company there and then, foregoing the complimentary cover. I was handed my keys and pointed to my car, which understandably due to COVID, I was not shown the finer features of.
I did not receive any documentation via email. Upon phoning and further questioning about the warranty, I was again told it would be emailed, and then that a warranty booklet would be posted, but it never arrived. For roadside assistance I was told to 'look for the leaflet in the glove box'. I was told I would have to keep track of when the MOT was due after 3 years by using the logbook. All this if fine but should have been clarified initially, especially as they knew this was my first time buying a new car from a dealership (previous cars had all been used). I should not have been told I would receive physical documentation if not.
Upon the initial visit I was quoted a service plan and agreed to it. I was told the car would be serviced before I picked it up, meaning from then I'd need to keep up regular servicing to maintain a full-service history - it wasn't serviced. I enquired again about the service plan and was met with 'oh you want that? I was wondering why it wasn’t serviced.' I then followed up with a phone call to finally be sent a 3-year service plan that detailed payments but not what this entitled me to. I emailed again to clarify before signing, then phoned and left a voicemail a few days later. I still have had no response and the quote has timed out after a week. I have just given up.
When someone buys a new (or nearly new) car, they expect a certain level of service. Sinclair have really fallen short on far too many aspects that anyone would deem appropriate.
It was nice to see the vehicle and I was impressed by the showroom itself. But very disappointed with the organisational aspects.
Sadly this has put us off a Volkswagen.
