Wine Unearthed - Oxford Wine Tasting

“I just wanted to write and say how much we enjoyed the wine tasting day in Oxford on Saturday. I bought the voucher for my boyfriend as a Christmas present. Neither of us have ever been to anything like that before, but the way the course was run was completely unpretentious and not at all intimidating. Phillipa was so knowledgable and passionate about teaching, her enthusiasm was infectious and we both had a brilliant time, please pass on our thanks. (We also got in on the Sunday night and tried her recommendation of champagne with fish and chips which was amazing!!!) I've already recommended it to my boss and my parents, both of whom are going to book! Many thanks for a really special gift and a great day.”

A really excellent day with Wine Unearthed. Toby was an excellent host: he was entertaining, engaging and very knowledgeable.

The day was well organised with white wines in the morning, a nice lunch, then reds in the afternoon. Lots of fun and even a few games thrown in.

Just the right number of people, and very well placed venue.

I would say the perfect gift.

An excellent day with a very knowledgeable teacher in Oxford. Adrian struck the right balance for the day with information on the wines tasted (19 in total!!!), the various wine varieties, a quiz and some very challenging bottles of scent. Still not convinced it was Blackberry!! Food was great and so where the fellow guest at the event who all had one thing in common, a love of wine.

Would definitely recommend it and will be look to attend the next wine tasking event.

A hugely enjoyable day in Oxford. Toby was an engaging host, creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere while educating us in the joys of wine. The morning was dedicated to tasting and learning about white wines, and this was followed by an excellent lunch (accompanied, of course, by wine pairings) and an afternoon sampling reds. The day was interspersed with several games to add a bit of extra fun to the proceedings. Informal but educational, I would thoroughly recommend this as a great way to spend a Saturday.

I came, having quizzed Adrian, to learn about wine. I expected a good day I had a great day.

Toby is a skilled presenter and had everyone in a very nice group enjoying the subject and having a fun day. His skill in conveying his knowledge and love of the subject came through and made the learning so easy.

While the day itself was worth every penny, but I will get even more value as I will now buy wine that I like, enhance my food by enjoying wines that add to the tastes, and enjoy my holidays more as the bottle that I bring back will remind me of good times.

I learned so much from Toby in just one day. I now feel confident choosing wine pairings when I cook for family & friends. An intense course, packed with information, quizzes & tasting wines from around the world. I highly recommend this course in Oxford. Lovely lunch too ! This was a birthday gift from friends. I went alone & felt very comfortable on a mixed table for 8. No 'hard-sell' of wines or accessories, just a fun, totally inspiring day. Thank you Toby !

Attended in October 2016 - finally got around to taking up Father's Day gift from 2015 - the team were very kind in extending voucher! What an interesting day. Our host was super knowledgeable and shared his knowledge in a way that was both fun and easy to follow. Think both my wife and I now have the basics under our belt and can be confident choosing and enjoying finer wines going forward! Thanks for an excellent event.

A rich and instructive day. I thought I knew a fair amount about wine, but I learned a great deal about aspects I 'd never previously considered. The day would have suited anybody with an interest in wine, regardless of their prior knowledge and experience. It was designed to extend our appreciation, but assumed no particular level of enthusiasm or understanding. I take my hat off to the organisers for providing a day so well suited to a diverse group.

Toby was an excellent presenter - warm, engaging and very knowledgeable. He set a relaxed tone for the event & made the day most enjoyable with a range of anecdotes and short informative inputs, interspersed with light-hearted quizzes and table-group activities. And the wines themselves - it goes without saying - were varied & distinctive; each chosen to point up a new dimension of flavour, colour, production process... and so on.

This was my thoughtful wife's Christmas present to me, and one of the best I've had. I was glad to be driven home by her afterwards - 18 wines to taste left me quite mellow!

Highly recommended.
