I had a woodworking workshop experience with Bill and I absolutely loved it. I learned a lot about different types of wood and acquired some pretty good working skills. I am new to woodworking, but I was able to do a pretty little box that has no drilling and no nails involved! I loved the level of challenge that I was presented with (creating dovetails ends) and appreciated the craftsmanship behind this task. And Bill was really great - he guided me patiently through this task, correcting all my about to happen mistakes in time! He is also so knowledgeable and so interesting to talk to - I learned about restoration and he humoured me with the stories about his woodworking experience. I am really looking forward to be part of another workshop/masterclass as soon as we all get out of the lockdown. Can't wait!

I went to Bill to complement the formal upholstery course I am taking - I wanted to have a wider knowledge of how to look after the woodwork on a piece as well as it's fabric covering. Bill has taught me how to approach the work, the skills to test the surface and how to choose the appropriate plan. We have done several pieces together with practical as well as theory topics being covered. I am now learning how to do some basic woodwork, specifically joints, to further enhance my knowledge of the furniture I may be working on. Bill has been patient, thorough and so willing to share his knowledge. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend classes with him.

I have attended several furniture restoration courses with Bill, each one tailored either to a specific item of my own furniture, or a particular aspect of restoration, and I can't recommend him highly enough. Under his tuition my skills are effortlessly increasing (from nearly zero, I might add), and he takes every opportunity to teach, often using the antiques that he is working on to teach about timbers, finishes and methods. I like to think that I am learning the 'right' way of doing things, and Bill's background as a top conservator means that this is very much the case.

Thank you Bill for the Chair Making Course which I immensely enjoyed and for sharing your knowledge, expertise and experience and all the other hints and tips too. It’s good that you are willing to help and encourage others and hopefully keep hand tool woodworking alive. I would wholeheartedly recommend Bill’s courses whether you are new to woodworking or are experienced to any level. A great week! I've also received great comments from everybody who has seen the finished chair at home.

Spent a glorious 5 days with Bill in his wonderfully equipped workshop. The time there was well paced and Bills willingly shares his plentiful knowledge. There is a steady supply of tea, great music and its a super opportunity for you to deepen your woodworking knowledge. I would recommend a course with Bill.

Went to the workshop for a one day intro to woodworking session. Absolutely fantastic. Bill was the perfect host. Both knowledgeable and personable. Came away enthused and looking forward to going back and continuing my lessons. Highly recommend!
