Dog friendly pub (we were on holiday with ours) with great food. Not cheap but great value and delicious. We booked a table for a (busy) Thursday evening for our anniversary and were given a table in the window . The noise from the table next to us was unbearable - couldn't hear ourselves speak and the waitress couldn't hear what we wanted to order. Despite how busy it was, the staff were great in finding us another table and we enjoyed our meal in relative peace. Really couldn't fault the staff - very attentive and accommodating. Service was quick and meals very tasty. Pictures are the Cumberland Sausage and mash and the smoked chicken risotto.

The outdoor kids area is great. Most of it is covered to protect from the sun and rain. All the food we had was amazing at a really fair price. The beef cheeks were top notch. Service was great, really friendly ladies.

Great food and service, really classy decor. The only reason for four stars was the choice of cider was either Strongbow or fruity ciders in bottles which for a real cider drinker is a poor choice. However the wine selection is excellent.

The food was delicious. We had the beef cheeks and the sea bass. As well as the chocolate fudge cake and the sticky toffee pudding. The service was friendly. It's best to book in advance as it gets busy in the evening.

Great Sunday carvery! Much needed in the wet and cold weather. We were a little slow to be served but we came in at 1pm and the restaurant was very busy so understandable. The wait staff were wonderful and even gave us an extra plate of their giant Yorkshire puds when we asked! Will hopefully be back again

The decor was lovely and felt warm. The food was ok, not great value but quality seemed nice. They were rather busy and it was a loud atmosphere.

Popped in after a 6 mile dog walk along the River Kent as my Mum was in Westmorland General Hospital still having her mastectomy!
I couldn't have chosen a better place for my late lunch/early dinner as they were marvellous, really friendly, looked after me (middle aged woman on her own in a pub, feeling a bit awkward!) and the food was delicious (and came very quickly).
Delicious home-made chilli with both rice and chunky chips was absolutely gorgeous. Not too spicy, just right for me! Lots of chunky goodness!
Dogs are allowed in the bar (not the restaurant), there are plenty of seats and tables to choose from and have to be on the floor - mine was that tired she didn’t care, as long as she was warm and cosy.
As my Mum hadn't come out of surgery when I rang, I opted for a hot chocolate to finish and it was MASSIVE!!!! It almost looked like a pint pot!!! (Could've done with being much hotter, but it was delicious all the same. If you like it hot, just mention that when you order.)
Priced pretty reasonably considering reviews said it was pricey. I thought it was pretty much the same as down in Cheshire - maybe it's expensive for Kendal?
Well worth a visit, great parking and easy to find.
Thanks for looking after me; your venue was the perfect retreat for me in my time of need😘

Mum's home recovering now and starting to feel a little more normal. Everything went well and I’ve still got her, that's the main thing🥰
