Well worthy of a second visit and more!
I am putting 1 star as its not possible to leave 0 star review when myself and my partner visited earlier today for our lunch before collecting the kids from school.
On arrival it was quickly apparent the staff looked as if they didn't want to be at work, we found our own table which we originally didn't mind doing.
When we ordered our food the staff at the bar was very quick to tell us what we originally wanted wasn't available, we understood this and choose another dish.
When our food came the drinks seemed flat which was not a good start, the food looked as if it had been scrapped together from yesterday's off cuts, the "garnish" of peppers and onions looked as if it was a 2 min microwave job and looked to be congealed on the plate.
The sauce usually in most restaurants or pub grub places was already poured on the plate when usually you got a gravy boat or jug to pour your own.
The fish looked as if it was frozen and thrown in a deep fat fryer however advertised as "hand cooked"
My partner also had to point out more of the veg on my plate looked as if it had been thrown in a bin and placed on my plate.
In all we came away very disappointed and not satisfied at all and will not be returning to eat here, we are not food snobs and expected pub grub but this looked as if it was yesterday's food refried and veg that was going off.
We would of normally complained to staff but they seemed unapproachable and we didn't want to cause a scene for others.
Definitely not recommended and won't be returning to eat here which is a shame as we enjoyed it previously under different management.
Externally: Connected to a main road it has good access and plenty of parking including plenty of decently sized disabled bays.
There is plenty of external seating in a rather pleasant area next to the car park and tucked around the back of the restaurant, means you can enjoy the better weather and a refreshing drink.
The Food: Good quality food is served fresh and daily. They have daily deals also available which are excellent value for money, I can especially recommend going on a Wednesday for the Curry Wednesdays offer.
Overall:
I cannot recommend the Hungry Horse restaurants enough, be it for watching a sport event, a meal with the whole family, your partner or just a few friends, it caters for all.
The Cherry Tree is an EXCELLENT example of a Hungry Horse restaurant and honestly the staff should be very proud of themselves, their hard work clearly shows.
Love the place
