The Stagg Inn

Fantastic choice! A pub full of character which seems to be more about a restaurant experience than just a place for drinks. Situated in a beautiful area with a good outdoor area. Higher-end food than your usual ‘pub grub’ - but you can appreciate the difference and it’s still well portioned and priced. Great service and selection of drinks to accompany the experience.

Ordered the sea bream. Meal was absolutely fantastic. Top rate. So tasty, well presented and a generous portion. Reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. Menu is fairly expensive but not outrageous, however pints of beer are over £5 each!

Great food with very friendly staff. All the dishes were made to perfection. We had a very comfortable stay in the rooms and the hospitality was fantastic. I definitely recommend a visit here!

Great staff made us feel very welcome. Salmon starter needs more work. The dressed crab was excellent as was the surf and turf special and the pork belly. Service was top class throughout the evening. Thank you.

Dined at The Stagg Inn in November 2022 and while we enjoyed the meal, we felt it didn’t quite fulfil its potential. The venue is beautiful and wonderfully presented. The service falls short with the staff having little knowledge of the wine list or the menu.
We had a pigeon starter and chicken liver parfait starter. Both were nice but the pigeon needed to be served warmer we felt. The mains were the Pork Trio and the Truffle and Honey chicken. The chicken was impressive but the trio of pork was average with too much Katsu sauce, the hoisin belly was far too salty and the tender loin was very tough. We both had the cassis parfait which was pleasant but the honey comb was gluey and inedible.
The outstanding positive was the bill - great value for money.

Wow Brilliant service had 1 of the best Steaks I’ve ever had my Wife and I stayed at the Old Vicarage just up the road.And the Stag was also Dog friendly.Many thanks for a great meal.Steve Stacey and Wilbow x

Had an outstanding meal today with my wife.
The food was exquisite, Queen scallop superb and the jus with the steak was brilliant.
My wife’s chicken was sublime
The service was attentive and the owner was informative and knowledgeable.
It was a pleasure to meet him.
