A really lovely place to eat. We stopped by today after shopping in town and seeing the hotel's advert outside for their special menu which was extremely well priced. The lady behind the bar was charming, friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was really great and we were served very generous portions and enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. We will definitely return. The service, the food and the price was 5 STAR

Had the beef roast dinner and it was amazing! Short on veg as we had to share a portion but the beef and gravy itself was delightful, fell apart. V satisfied and will be back!

Thank you very much, warm welcome, great food and drinks and lovely relaxing atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone wanting proper food at very reasonable prices. Will be part of our regular visit to a lovely part of our new home in Lancashire.

Stayed here years ago and it was great. Had dinner here the other week, and so so. Decent prices, good beer and feels like proper pub. However, the dinner was a bit of a mess up.

We waited nearly an hour, and when it finally came, the order was a mixup. These things happen, but I checked twice with the guy on the order as I was sure he wasn’t listening to me properly. When the dinner finally arrived, and it wasn’t what I ordered, the server just shrugged and looked annoyed. No offer to go and get the order correct so I just had to have what was delivered. To be fair, it was a decent. Just not what I ordered and a slightly underwhelming, can’t be arsed response I felt was a bit off. Maybe it’s a locals only pub? Or maybe it’s a one off as they had a party on at the time?

However, because of otherwise good reviews and because I had a good stay here a few years ago, I’ll give it 1 more to when I’m next in clitheroe

Recently attended my friend's wedding reception here and all I can say is wow, really warm and friendly staff and the owners were very helpful and went way above and beyond to make everyone feel right at home. Food was first class and I would recommend this place for any type of function that you have in mind

Was looking for somewhere nice to have lunch after visiting the castle and this old coaching inn on the high street met all my expectations! It's ideally located close to the castle, market and shops. A very traditional pub with lots of atmosphere, an impressive history and a tragic ghost story. The bar lounge is cosy and comfortable with period decor. Clean downstairs toilet. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Was impressed with the extensive lunch menu, better than the average pub food with a good choice of sandwiches, salads and homemade cooked meals. There was also a two-course pensioner's special for just £8.95. Had the homemade chicken and mushroom pot with chunky chips, cabbage and carrots. It was well cooked and piping hot. The puff pastry was nice and light and the big chunks of chicken were really tender. Generous portions too. Was too full for a dessert but the choice was tempting! Both the meal and the glass of wine were very reasonably priced. A great place to have lunch, would definitely recommend!

3 of us decided to pop in as we were passing, and enjoyed a great pint of ale...then spotted a Sunday roast menu. 2 courses for £9,95. Decided to order, and it was delicious! Well worth a visit 👍

10/10 for the chicken roast dinner. I’ve not had roast potatoes crispy on the outside and soft on the inside for over 10 years, you just don’t get it in a pub, everything tasted home made.
