Visited Thursday 23rd June. This place is beautiful from the outside in. Lovely and homely. Range of lovely drinks and the service was exceptional. The staff really know what they are talking about and are very attentive. The food was absolutely unreal aswel. The first time I have not had to use any salt and pepper on a meal. Great experience, we can't wait to come back. Thank you

Very disappointed with the food this evening..Not been to dine here for a while but definitely won't be returning soon .The Sunday dinner menu is very misleading. Must catch so many people out with the supplement charges!! Was shocked when the bill came,£60 for 2 Sunday dinners😳 and wasn't even worth it hence our complaint..The potatos where shocking to be fair. I'm a food blocker with over ¹/² million followers .Don't like leaving bad reviews but I truly believe honesty is best policy so u can improve 👍

We thoroughly enjoyed a 2 course meal from the Dine For Less menu at this lovely friendly pub. Each dish was piping hot and the portions were a very good size. If you like deliciously fresh and tasty pub grub, this is definitely the place to go. We will most certainly be back, thank you

Called late in the day for a table..the owner couldn't have been more accomodating.
Fabulous food, excellent service, live music, homely atmosphere...will definitely visit again.
Great pub!

Visited with my mum just last week. It is a place we have been to before in the past but it is the first time I have been since the most recent change of management.

Atmosphere is very pleasant and welcoming, though the back area does feel a little depressing for my taste with how quiet it is.

The food is where I am going to be a bit more critical, but not too much. The food itself is good, but there are issues.

The starter, Calamari, was quite sweet thanks to the sauce, but it worked very well, and it was presented in a large clam shell, which I think is brilliant. Topped off with some chillies made for a really good starter.

For main, Cheese and Onion Pie, tasted good, but a bit too potatoey for my liking, however the plate felt rather empty. It didn't come with any traditional vegetables on the plate, aside from some beans in a separate dish, which was somewhat disappointing.

My mum was also disappointed with the portion of her main considering how pricey the items on the menu are. I feel like the chefs might be trying too hard to be more like a gourmet restaurant, which detracts from the identity of The Travellers Rest, that being a British pub in the middle of the countryside.

Overall, while the food tastes really good, the identity of the restaurant akin to its food is missing somewhat, and prices are currently too high, which might explain why the restaurant was a bit quiet that night. I think by slightly altering their portions or slightly lowering their prices, I think they will get more customers, returning customers, and turn a greater profit. But it is a step in the right direction after previous management.

Absolutely delicious Sunday Roast - highly recommend the trio - chicken, beef and gammon…
Perfect roast potatoes - golden and crispy on the outside; soft and fluffy inside and served with so much lovely veg - carrots, red and savoy cabbage, with lots of rich gravy. Best roast I’ve had in ages

We are touring local Sunday Roast venues. This one is highly recommended for food quality but is significantly more expensive than the local average. Lots of options but all at supplemental cost. Service also on the slow side. Probably all cooked fresh so to be expected.

Visited Travellers Rest tonight for the first time. We moved to the area during the pandemic and are making our way round the area, trying all the different pubs/restaurants. This was our first "date night" meal out (child free) for a while, especially since the pandemic / latest lockdown.

The staff were really friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious! And it was so great to see them handle the outdoor dining only restrictions so well - we were seated under cover with heaters and there were blankets available too for anyone who wanted them. Amazing service, they have thought of everything and handled this horrible situation so well!

Hubby and I both had the 10oz Butchers Steak with triple cooked chips and mixed greens, which was really nice - steak was soft and cooked to our liking. Lovely food and service, we will be back soon!

Lovely atmosphere and really nice staff! Drinks kept flowing. It was so nice to feel a bit of normality again! Thank you to all at Travellers Rest, we will be back again hopefully soon!
