This pub is a real gem. The owners are very friendly and down to earth. The pub always has a fire in each bar, it is very cosy and decor and lighting tasteful and relaxing. They have excellent ales, which are well kept, and good wines. There is no food served here except very good crisps, so it has the smell of a real pub. Dogs and walkers are welcomed. There is a small attractive courtyard at the rear, part of which is covered, which always had colourfully planted pots and climbers. The establishment feels very clean and there is ample off road parking. I highly recommend this pub.

Only opens Friday-Sunday and there is no food. It does have a good range of ales on tap (the casks are in the back room!), and ciders and larger on the bar. Nice log fires provide a cosy atmosphere and there is a great ambiance of people just chatting and playing darts. If that is what you are after, you won't be disappointed.

This is akin to the first pub I was taken to, in 1953 in Hertfordshire.
No bright lights just warm and welcoming. If you want to sit and think, you can. If you want a natter over your pint, then your hosts will provide good conversation and a huge knowledge of beer and the brewing industry. A constantly changing beer selection and no musak. This pub is spot on perfect.
