The pub was recommended by a local ; we were from Stamford. It's a super dog friendly venue with above excellent staff who were utterly welcoming, friendly, efficient and great with dogs. The food was the best I've had in a very long time from a pub establishment (I'm in the hospitality industry). Delicious and filling. The menus is not ordinary with great options available for all types and volumes. Very cosy and traditional yet have the capacity to cater for large groups and events. Great Village location too.

Very friendly welcome when artived, the gentleman who greeted us was very sweet and patient with my daughter who was deciding on what fruit drink she wished, absolutely amazing chips!! Beautiful garden with the most gorgeous hanging baskets we will definitely be coming back!

I went, with relatives, for a meal and chat after a family funeral at the nearby Chilterns Crematorium.
Booked in advice, with special food requirements for some, it was a friendly, well-organised welcome.
I very much hope to go back on a happier occasion and to do justice to their excellent range of real ales.

Consistently one of the best pubs in the area. The menu is excellent, and the choice of Sunday roasts are always great. Well located for walkers and people who want to engage in the traditional look walk round the woods with dinner afterwards.

Great pub, great food, great beers, great staff.

Family run pub in the heart of Penn street, had a chicken burger on the specials board with a crème brulé which was delicious.

Would highly recommend

Give this place a miss! Went for Sunday lunch as they used to sell child size portions to OAPs.
When the beef arrived it was sinewy and inedible, couldn't cut it even with a steak knife.

Well what a shame, we decided to go somewhere new for a Sunday roast & was massively disappointed.
We arrived on time for my booking received our first drinks very quickly and then had to wait around 1 hour 15 minutes for a cold roast with raw veg and rock solid Yorkshire puddings. We swiftly sent the roasts back and they were simply microwaved and given back as you could see where we had tried the meat, however where it was microwaved it had completed ruined the dinner we then had chewy meat, soggy potatoes & veg (still served with rock solid Yorkshire pudding). Upon receiving the second plate we refused to eat the roasts, a real shame for a beautiful pub in an ideal location.

Quaint little village pub. Friendly and helpful staff. Visited on a snowy day but definitely want to revisit in the summer to make use of the fabulous garden.
