Amazing team , beautiful pub in a lovely village . Tonight they had Lisa Martin singing as Adele and Karen Carpenter! And she was absolutely brilliant 👏 . Will definitely come again, especially if she is singing! 😎

We were lucky enough to have our wedding reception at the Maypole in middle of May 2022 and was truly blown away by the amazing job Vince and Leon did.
Firstly, the pub is beautiful and has so much character which sums Thaxted up perfectly!
Vince is an amazing host, both him and his staff did an excellent job on the day ensuring that the reception went smoothly and looking after all of the guests.
We decided to do a buffet style food service and Leon did a fantastic job creating a buffet menu that would cater for all, including vegetarian and vegan options for our guests.
Really nice seating arrangements both inside and out and perfect for any event.
We couldn't be happier with our experience and once again a huge thank you to Vince, Leon and all at the Maypole in Thaxted!

What can we say, excellent service, lovely food and a friendly atmosphere. Hannah (palindrome), our waitress, was brilliant and made us feel very welcome as first time visitors to The Maypole. Best place we’ve been in a while.

Unfortunately terrible. It was not a warm welcome. No would acknowledge us we had to approach them. We asked if we could eat they checked with the chef was told yes. We then seated ourselves. No one offered a menu so I got them myself. We went to order and was told we had to wait for the table of 8 to order before us, we was only a table of two and the table next to us table of three said they had waited a long time and still had not had the food. Definitely would not recommend. The only good point the one table that was service the food looked nice.

Highly recommend this lovely pub in the heart of Thaxted. The atmosphere in the pub was great and my partner and I had a splendid evening!

We had a lovely warm welcome from Vince and the food prepared by Leon is both traditional and delicious home cooked food. We have to say we thoroughly enjoyed the food, good portion size, plenty of choice and great quality produce.

The staff were friendly, helpful and give great customer service - nothing was too much trouble.

We definitely recommend this fine pub and will most certainly be returning.

Lovely pub. Very friendly and attentive staff. Food was delicious! Unable to leave a tip via card payment however - would be nice to be able to do this.

Had a beautiful lunch in the garden. Great options on the menu, cooked to perfection. Really delicious wine options. Overall great value. All the staff are lovely and accommodating with a positive and relaxed atmosphere. Faultless.
The new renovations and landscaping in the garden makes the place magical. Definitely will be back to try the cocktails!
