I went to this pub last weekend with a couple of friends. We had only planned on having one drink before moving on, but ended staying for three hours!

Great English pub atmosphere and friendly staff.

What a great pub friendly attentive staff, six ales being served and in good condition, a warm welcome and a great real open fire, had Sunday lunch with friends and great value and cooked to perfection followed by live music made the day.
Will return and will be my local as it is a great pub with a cosy feel I was very surprised. Keep the good work up as so many of these pubs are closing.

Recently re-opened pub and looks to be back to its best which it hasn't been for many years. The landlord was very welcoming and knowledgeable and had built a lovely log fire on what was a cold day. The Harvey's beer on offer was as usual 1st class and very good value in today's over inflated prices. They have live music though I didn't catch any of it on this particular day

So pleased that this cosy pub has 're opened and has been thoroughly cleaned and back to offering excellent beer and welcome.
Sorry to say that the hospitality offered by staff is severely lacking. A group of 10 of us was prevented entry a week ago - although the lights were on and people were inside, we were told through the locked door that the pub was closed (9.15pm). Last week, another group of us arriving at the same time were served by a barmaid who made it clear she wanted to close, and could not wait to bolt the door the second we left. Another evening, there was hardly a welcome, parts of the pub in darkness and very cold. Very disappointing as we have been customers here for 20-30 years. Hospitality must improve or else there will be no customers.

The new owner is trying very hard to get this pub open, due to the fire and the works to repair the damage and the age of the property he has tried to push the works forward.
The opening dates have been moved due to delays in works and unforeseen problems, the whole cellar has been renewed with new lines and cooling and pumps, with a complete new kitchen installed with new flooring, walls, and equipment, electrics.
The internal decoration has been completed and a repaint outside, a new smoking area and revamped rear garden so works are getting there and it is near completion, the pub will be open seven days a week and all day.

New landlord/landlady have resurrected and restored a 600 year old traditional oak beamed country pub in the centre of town. Great crowd for the chill out Sunday afternoon music quaffing from an extensive range of beers, wines and spirits. Sunday also offering includes a range of tasty roasts at a very reasonable price Twice a month jam nights are not to be missed.

Perfect little find!
Quaint little pub! Landlord couldn’t be more accommodating, warm welcome. Lovely stay,
Nice atmosphere all around great. Would pick this over a travel lodge any day! Can’t wait to come back!

FAB! Sunday roast from heaven, 2 for £10. Lovely owner and lady looking after the restaurant and bar. Great portions and loads of fresh veg, cooked correctly,
Defo going back soon to try the rest of the menu.
