Have been going to this pub on and off for years now and it never disappoints!
The last time I was there I decided to have some food for a late lunch.
I opted for the beef stew with multigrain bread and butter...it hit the spot perfectly and at £7 you can't go wrong!
The meat was a plenty and very tender, the sauce itself was tasty and full of veggies too!
I could of eaten another! ;)
So, if you're not from the area and are looking for a high standard traditional pub then look no further than The Hope!
Very attentive and friendly staff also! :)

Not been here since before Covid. Lots more seating outside in different configurations. They're doing a proper basic pub menu for lunch - ham, egg and chips - perfect. Cider and beer still served at the correct temperature. Prices not bonkers either. Lovely afternoon.

Very decent old school boozer with a handful of well kept cask ales. Very good food also, at £7 for a wide selection of soups, curries, stews etc. I wish I lived a bit nearer...

The Hope is a fantastic pub with a great selection of reasonably priced keg, cask and bottled beers, and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. They have a good range of snacks (crisps, nuts, scratchings, pork pies) and offer a small, but very tasty, variety of hot options as well (goulash, hot pot). The atmosphere is a warm and friend community vibe and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Having been coming here for years and plan to for many more.

Super big pub. Clearly a centre for its local community. Very nice range of beers. Food was excellent too. Several large rooms, and conservatory & yard our back. Handy for station. Strongly recommended.

Always a great place to chill out/meet with friends. Good quality and mixture of draft beverages as well as spirits/non-alcoholic and bottled/canned drinks. Can't knock the food either, both hot pot meals and deli snacks. Bathrooms are always clean and well stocked. The atmosphere may get a bit loud on a weekend evening, but generally a good conversation can be heard. Dog friendly and wheelchair accessible

It's always a pleasure coming to this pub. Only serves real ales, ciders and craft beers. Sadly no Guinness but they do usually have 4 dark ales on - so not the end of the world. Lovely little pub as you walk in with the bar right in front of you (where it should be). 15 ales and ciders with 4 craft beers on tap today including the 4 dark ales. A chalk board provides information on the beers available as well as a smallish menu which covers all the bases. The staff are wonderful and helpful, prepared to discuss what's available that suits your tastes. The pub holds a number of beer festivals throughout the year, including the recent dark beer festival, in a purpose built Marquee out the back.

Phenomenal beer on tap, friendly staff and great beers to take away. If you like Craft beers well worth the journey.
