Pub/Hostel located very near chalk farm station and not too far from Camden town. Great old pub feel, nice locals and great staff.

Great little old pub, pool table, darts, football on the TV, drinks are reasonably priced with friendly staff behind the bar.

Came in midweek with some friends and they had a pub trivia on, joined in for a laugh and we ended up winning a round of beers at the end!

All in all a good night! Will be back.

This Pub is one of a rare species-a traditional London Pub. You will not find empty headed people sipping Prosecco as though it were the ultimate in sophistication, what you will find however are Welcoming Bar Staff, a fine selection of ales, bottled beers and ciders, a lot of which are featured during the Pub’s Happy Hour or the All Day “5 Bottles for £12” deal. Should sport be your predeliction, the Pub boasts a wide range of channels showing every sport from football, rugby, cycling, golf, cricket etc. I cannot rate this Pub highly enough and the New Management deserve to reap the benefit of their efforts to turn it into an excellent venue to chill out, relax or meet family and friends. Don’t delay your first visit, you’ll want to comeback.

Good place. Where is also the possibility of finding foreign people. The staff is friendly and the place has a pool table, darts and television to watch sports. Many types of beer and drinks at the same time. It is possible to intermate with local and foreign people. I recommend it 100%.

Nice little English style pub with a mix of locals and backpackers! Cheap drinks, happy hour and all of the footie matches you’ll ever need on the tv! Lovely staff too

ok but weird - staff were all fine and no issues from that side - just regulars stare you out like you don’t belong. someone could find that intimidating, i find it sad, but i couldn’t really be bothered with it for longer than necessary and just wanted to go anywhere else.
it’s great that a pub can have a community feel, especially in such a big city, but there’s no need for that kind of behaviour.
Pool table though once you get past all that. that’s nice.

I was having my daughter's party there and asked if I could hire a part of it. They where really nice and didn't even charge me and let us bring our own food!!!! Stop in and have a drink if you get a chance!. It's a shame they are not bigger and did food... But I think they should give it a go with a small menu. Nice Sunday pub after church.

Where to start with this pub.

It's a gorgeous building with some interesting original features, but all you can see here is a completely wasted opportunity.

We arrived on a hot Sunday afternoon when every other pub in the area was completely booked out for the rest of the day. There were no customers for our entire visit.

The interior is definitely tired. At some point in the last few years they pulled up the carpet and replaced it with very cheap laminate flooring which aged very badly, very quickly.

Some of the original 70s vinyl bench seating had been covered over with bits of cloth to hide the rips and tears. Sloppy and amateurish. They hadn't even bothered to put chairs and tables outside even though the temperatures were reaching the high 20s (and ironically there were some garden benches being used as indoor furniture?!).

There was nothing to protect the original wood panelling around the dart board from getting a beating by drunk dart players. The lettering outside the pub are stickers and are peeling off.

The girl behind the bar was very friendly (and had a good taste in music) but was clearly untrained on almost any part of bar work. They obviously don't take due care and attention when changing barrels, and the lines could have definitely done with a clean - even for the cider. My lager was borderline undrinkable.

As can be seen with the Gypsy Queen round the corner, a good renovation, decent beer and decent food will bring people back here.

My understanding is there is a hostel above are the majority of the clientele are either older locals or backpackers, the latter of which aren't coming to the UK at the moment and the former seem to have abandoned it.

In its current state I feel like I'm writing an obituary rather than a pub review; the only hope is that someone with a bit of vision takes his place over and brings it back to some kind of former glory. Hell, give me a month and 15 grand and I could do it.
