We stayed at the pheasant and were hugely unimpressed with their menu, so decided to eat at the King's Head instead - what a great decision.

We were served by Libby, who was a delight. Our meals were delicious & the cocktails were really great. Our dogs were comfortable under our corner table, and overall we just felt everything was done as it should be.

We'd absolutely recommend and return if ever in the area again.

We have stayed previously and were super happy with the large room we had. However upon this visit we were in room 9 and in our mind it should be considerably cheaper. It was half the size and sadly smelt a little. Maybe drains? It wasnt bad and we soon became accustomed to it while within the room. But upon entering room it was noticeable each time.
Once again our food was lovely (One of the reasons for our return visit)
Also the staff were great. Welcoming and informative. Despite previous negative comment about the room, it was lovely and clean. Thank you Jo.
We would certainly stay again, a bit pricey for us but overall very nice apart for small room. Thank you Kings Head

Sunday lunch was very good, portion size was perfect and good value for money.
It may be an idea to say seasonal vegetables on the menu as it states carrots, broccoli and parsnips and I had carrots, cabbage and no parsnips, which was a little disappointing. Also I had the turkey, which was thickly cut, well cooked, still moist and a pleasure to eat but they did not have any cranberry sauce available, surely a must when serving turkey?

The food was lovely as was the atmosphere. The service for starters and desserts was very slow and during the meal we were given no explanation as to why. Also a drink was ordered that was never served.
We meet a relative who was up in Strafford on holiday if we lived nearer we wouldn't be returning.

Called in for lunch, quite busy.
Food good, fish finger and beefbrisket sandwiches.
Decided to Book breakfast for Monday as our hotel had no chef.
Breakfast also good, nice staff, friendly.

Went for a Christmas meal with the family (table of 6). The food was good, albeit overpriced for what we got. The waitress was not very attentive, we had a long wait for drinks and some never arrived. We also had to ask for some more cutlery when our mains arrived, our waitress then proceeded to quite literally dump the cutlery on our table and we had to sort ourselves out. As said earlier the food was nice but the experience would have been better if we had better service!

We had a family Christmas do of 16, at The Kings Head, last Saturday 3rd December. It was brilliant. The staff were attentive, the food was really good. Couldn’t fault one thing about it. Thank you all for giving us such a lovely evening.

Lovely Christmas Day meal - took all the stress away! Perfectly situated table to accommodate parents with mobility issues and attentive service. A big thank you to the Team.
