Excellent food. The Tuesday 2 for 1 pizzas were some of the best that I have tasted. We came back for the Wednesday burgers, which were excellent too.

A lovely country pub with log fire in the winter. A warm welcome by the staff and their own micro brewery on site. It was a great place to stop after our walk up to Holmbury Hill and back with our Miniature Schnauzer walking group.

Really nice place to have dinner. We were staying in the area on a team away day and walked up here for the evening. Delicious food and a really friendly and helpful guy serving behind the bar. Our visit was on 20.09.22.

Great pub in a great location for walking and cycling. Very good choice of drinks. Big Smoke craft beers on tap is a massive plus as is Firebird gluten free bets for anyone with an intolerance. Food menu looks good but we didn't eat. The landlord was very friendly as well.

This may have been a while ago, but Google has just reminded me I never put my review up.

Whilst out mountain biking on Leith Hill, we always have lunch here. It is such a great little country pub that is always friendly, welcoming, warm and full of great beer and food.

I believe they are connected to big smoke brewery which do great beers. I had the Citra Pale ale this time.

They do a fantastic week day meal deal, 2 for 1 pizzas!!! And they are cracking pizzas. Would definitely highly recommend.

We have also had a Sunday lunch here in the past and this was also great.

One of my favourite local pubs this.

We visited The Royal Oak for a Sunday Lunch as a party of 7. We spent a while trying to find one of the best spots for a Sunday roast in this part of the Surrey Hills. It's a pretty pub in a beautiful village and surroundings. When we contacted the pub the staff sounded lovely and were helpful.
However, it did not live up to our expectations. When we arrived, we were not shown where our table was and had to go and receive our own menus. We then placed our order and had to wait 1 hour and 15 mins (order placed c.13:20 and food arrived c. 14.35). We had to ask politely where the food was after an hour and the waiter told us that there was one more table in front of us. Only then, did he give meals to the table next to us who arrived 15 minutes after we placed our order! When the food finally arrived, the roast veg was raw and the chicken dry. Nobody checked if the food was any good, nor did anyone come to check if we wanted any more drinks. I had to go downstairs to ask for water for the table.
There was only one apology for the lateness of the meal (only after we asked where the food was), and nothing was taken off the order, despite the complete lack of service and 1hr 15min wait for substandard food .
I completely understand that this is the busiest time of the day, week and year! Further too, I understand that you had a large table of 20 beside us. However, I do believe that you should not have accepted our booking if you could not have fulfilled the service and standard of food that you aim for. Do not just aim to completely fill out the restaurant if you do not have the staff and kitchen to be able to satisfy the customers!

The Royal Oak in Holmbury St Mary is under new management so we thought we'd try it for Sunday lunch with the family. Wow, have these guys hit the ground running! The staff could not be more friendly and my pint of Guinness was one of the best I have ever had. The menu is varied and very well thought out. We shared 3 starters, which were all divine, and my roast beef was as good as I have eaten anywhere. Could not recommend this pub enough. London quality food in the beautiful Surrey Hills. Thanks Neil and team for a wonderful Sunday afternoon. Fabulous.

Fantastic Sunday lunch! Thank you so much! Very accommodating, the manager was able to fit us in as a table of 12 at relatively short notice with no fuss at all! The service was great, orders were prompt and the food was delicious!
