A lovely local pub run by a very friendly family who have recently given both the pub and children's playground a makeover. Drinks have always been good, with plenty of choice on offer. Dog friendly with a large outside seating/garden area.

What a let down.

Poor food, three out of five of our guests eating did not enjoy the so called home cooked food. My pate was insipid in colour, very cold as if just taken out of the fridge and solid to cut, no taste not even sure what pate it was as it did not tell you on menu. Chilli con carne came like tomato clear sauce and hardly any mince to be seen and tastless again. One strawberry on a tiny meringue with small scoop of ice cream so please call it one strawberry on ice cream but definitely not call it strawberries and ice cream. Horrible conservatory with decor out of the dark ages, every plant and the flower on the table is plastic to match the plastic table cloth and plastic place mats. Room had empty wine bottles around as some sort of decoration again in the dark ages. Asked for a sherry it came in a big wine glass . Loked ridiculous could found a smaller tumbler. Waiter was just ok with no enthusiasm about his job, I think he feels the same as the customers depressed when entering this pub. This is me being polite as there was plenty more to comment on .

Lovely, friendly & helpful staff. Popped in for lunch to meet up with my brother & pass over our mother to him for the weekend. Really enjoyed it (as did all). Definitely recommended 👍

A very welcoming pub and nicely laid out.
Everyone was enjoying a pint or a meal.
Definitely worth another visit

Decent size garden with kids play area. Steep steps to get down to it though. Staff are really friendly

Friday lunchtime lunch for 3.
Pleasant and helpful staff, and a nice choice of food on the menu, served nicely.
The prices were good, too

It's nice to support a free house run by a family.
I wish I lived closer so I could visit more often.

Had lunch here today with my 10 cycling friends and the efficiency of the professional service was impeccable and very good quality of sandwiches way above average pub fare. Lovely conservatory at back. Will go again.
