Small, cozy & isolated pub, with amazing views over the Chilterns from the beer garden. I can't comment on the food as this was our "sundowner" for a cold drink at the end of a long walk. Friendly bar staff and well organised, with a laid back feel.

Stopped for lunch on a local walk. Pleasant typical country pub with a series of rooms arranged around a central bar. Only one cask ale on offer which was in excellent condition and served by friendly staff. We both had the fish and chips which were served up quickly but a little over cooked. Worth another visit.

Car park opposite gate to the 5 horseshoes with great beer and views across the fields, gardens with tables to sit and enjoy fantastic menu.

Very nice traditional pub tucked away in the countryside with great quality food. I had the Sunday roast and it was delicious. Excellent service.

Service, drinks and food portions left a lot to be desired, disappointing considering how expensive it was. Booked a table in the bar area with our dogs. Ordered two Shipyard American Pale Ales, they were flat. we told our server, they said "that's how they come" - it isn't, I drink this in many pubs locally, it's a keg ale, it's fizzy. I asked what else they had, the server told me "I'm not a beer drinker so I don't know". After finding out for ourselves we ordered different beers, they weren't flat this time but mine came with a 3 inch head on it, I asked for a top up which I received. The next beer I got was only three quarters full, I got another top up. We ordered the ploughmans for lunch, it was two small pieces of cheese (Dairylea size slice), a slice of pork pie, some chutney and four slices of granary bread - even smaller than the ploughmans another customer has complained about in these reviews! It appears they got a pickled onion at least. I don't blame the young people looking after us, as they clearly were new to the pub and didn't appear to have any supervision or support, but considering the high price point, this experience was a let down. Views nice and pub decor lovely, but that didn't make up for the food, drinks and service.

What an amazing establishment, had no idea what to expect, but wow!! Beautiful building, garden is stunning, food amazing and to top it off the staff were second to none. Well done..

I love the location and atmosphere of this pub. But a Ploughmans for £12 is steep, and when it only consists of 2 smallish lumps of cheese and a small wedge of pork pie, then it's not value at all IMO. No salad of any description (they described it as 'traditional' which I guess is a justification to that point), and I had to ask for more bread as it was too small slithers.

Take a look at my review of the Bell Inn at Aldsworth to see how a Ploughamns shoukld be done (and for 2/3 the price)
