What a pleasure to dine at a Pub that serves Quality food. We have at last found a place that presents good honest pub grub. The portions are generous and so so tasty served with a smile. First time we have been to this establishment and we are booking to be there again in a couple of weeks. The prices are average for the area but the quality of food is far above average. This really is a great place to eat. If we lived closer to this great pub we would be there weekly.

We were here in March 2022 and we loved the ambience and open fire, the food was impressive then. Says a lot about a venue when you visit nearly 6 months later and food still just as good. We really had another memorable lunch before we head back to Australia. Thank you Sheila for your great service and your son’s efforts in the kitchen - outstanding 👍👍👍

A quaint traditional boozer with all the cosy trimmings. Nic-nacs and fireplace to boot. Beyond Doombar beers are generic and are a few local brews away from pub bliss.

What a cosy place. My first visit and I'm ready to go back! 4 of us had drinks and a meal. The food was terrific. I hand a huge shoulder of lamb, superbly cooked. The others had liver and fish of the day, Sea Bass. We all said how delicious. Food was ordered at the bar to our numbered table. We were served by the landlady, who was lovely and the young man who delivered the food was very helpful. You just MUST go there!!!

Had booked ahead for a visit a couple of weeks ago, but have been travelling elsewhere since. Greeted nicely on arrival but drinks took a while to come. We ordered three meals, but only two arrived. Eventually, after asking, the third meal arrived just as the other two were finishing. Within a few minutes of the …More

Almost amusingly poor service here, with lacklustre food.
We came for Sunday lunch. We were the second lunch sitting, and the staff had very clearly had more than enough after one service. They made no attempt to hide their apparent contempt for serving us, and I do not feel that we were in any way challenging as customers. It was so strange an experience that it did at least prove almost amusing, although such unacceptable service is inexcusable.
The food was stuck in the last century, as perhaps were most of the clientele. Roast potatoes were dry and lacked crunch. To be fair though, my lamb was tasty and plentiful.
