Starting Gate

We love this pub. Great atmosphere, really helpful friendly staff. Fantastic value meals which have always been spot on. Lots of choice and some fabulous deals. We have just been in with our granddaughters while we're visiting them, we're not locals but we always feel as welcome as if we were. Keep up the great work Starting gate.

The meals were very good , nice and tasty . Will definitely be back for another meal .

In the week day different offers like buy one burger meal get one free and steak offers .
Clean , friendly staff ,good management.
They have karaoke 🎤 on on the night I visited.

Made a change from the Toby carvery which I also enjoy.

Haven't been here in a while due to having a really bad meal previously, chicken burgers overcooked. So on today's visit Big guy on the bar very friendly, credit to the pub as not many places you visit now are you met with a smile and friendly chat, 3 meals all very good, no complaints so will be back. Pub clean and inviting music not to loud so we could chat and be heard, guy who brought the food out very friendly too, just informed us no chocolate fudge cake 😅but offered an alternative of chocolate brownies. Thanks for a great visit.

1st time going in and have passed by it a thousand times!!..Was busy but got drinks from the bar and ordered a meal..waited about 20mins for meal which was fresh and hot and enjoyed it!!..plus the Staff were lovely also..I,ll be back..👌

Very pleasant visit as driving by. Nice tidy and clean inside. Ordered food didn’t have to wait too long. More than ample portions. Very fresh and hot. Good choice on menu.

There was limited menu due to shortages following Christmas, but still a reasonable choice. There was also only one ale available, which meant less choice if you're an ale drinker like me.

However, the food was nice, as well as great value. The staff were also friendly, particularly the temporary manager.

My local pub and I couldn’t ask for a better one! Staff are great! Food is great! Bit of a hiccup earlier in the year with kitchen closing early or running out of food but all improved now and service is better than ever! Can’t recommend enough!
