Just back from lunch at the pub after a one hour and 35-minute wait for food! When it finally came, it was mediocre, overcooked chips and bullet hard peas. It was Bank Holiday Easter Monday and quite busy with families and people sitting on the garden tables outside. We were warned when ordering that it would be up to a 45-minute wait for meals, and were happy and prepared for that. But as the wait lengthened, we all got hungrier and crosser … bought more drinks … got hungrier and crosser (my 10-year-old daughter was starving). By the time we bought the second drinks, there were two people now serving no-one at the bar and one very flustered lady struggling to cope in the kitchen (I wondered why they didn’t help her?). The owner seemed disinterested in customers. Such a shame, as the pub has a lovely spacious location by the river, with a big kid-friendly garden. It could be a brilliant pub, run by someone with flair and an interest in customer service. But we won’t be going back. The whole experience really spoiled our day!

Excellent place to go to for a drink or meal. Gets busy at times but worth waiting for. Great place at all times especially on a fine day with great outdoors seating etc.

My daughter had my grandsons christening here 13.6.22. Which was ruined by a very drunk landlady. She was calling people vile. She went to take drinks of a table which my brother and sister in law were on. She was told they were not finished. She then turned around and said what a rude person she was. There was at least 80 people in our party and they were getting a load of money in there till.. she has been sitting in the garden drinking and was denying she was drunk. If there was an emergency they would never had been able to deal with it. I highly recommend that NO ONE book this pub for a function. It is such a shame. It has a beautiful garden with play area for small children and a lake at the back. If this had the right management it would be lovely.

Had lunch in the week, nice old pub with plenty of character.
Good choice of food including vegetarian options.
Good service and the food was plentiful and well cooked.

The pub is on the hiking river route all the way from Shoreham and should be a welcome rest stop. It has a beautiful garden adjoining the pub, a sun trap on a sunny day, yet, the service was a bit of a let down - it's almost we were not welcome there. A couple next to us got a similar cold treatment, just because they enquired about getting some sandwiches...Bramber pub next time....

Stopped by to have a quick pint and a bite to eat after a lovely 11 mile walk along the river. I had a pint of Harvey's best which is always a winner for me. I also had the Cheeseburger and chips and I will say that the Chips were very nice, crunchy and cooked well. The Burger could of been presented better, All in all not bad for the price. The staff could of smiled a bit more, but hey you can't have everything.

Lovely village location with super garden for outdoor dining. Arrived just as the food orders were stopping so quickly decided and enjoyed our drinks whilst waiting for our food. You collect your food from inside when your buzzer buzzes and that all went smoothly. Food was well present, hot and tasty.
Unfortunately we were too late for pudding as we were abruptly told " we are closed" at 8pm!!!! So we missed out on pudding and they missed out on money in the till 🤔 seems odd to turn paying guests away. Lacking a little in hospitality sadly , but still we left with full bellys.

Don’t understand some of the reviews. 4 of us are staying nearby for work and we have visited here a few times now, staff are friendly and the beers are good. Prices are much better than the 2 other pubs near to this pub. Also has a really nice very large beer garden.
