Very poor experience with this pub. Two of us had a Sunday lunch - issues as follows:
- Waitress was unpleasant and unhelpful when we asked for a wait time for food, as we had noticed someone else complaining about wait times. She did not provide an estimate or exhibit good customer service and instead chose to ignore us.
- The roasts were below par - vegetables were overcooked (eg. Broccoli mush), the stuffed chicken was rubbery and low quality, the potatos had a fish-tasting sauce with them which was unappetising. For £14 a roast I expect better quality.
- The coffee was fake / low quality from a machine (you know, the old kind of machines from pubs back in the early 00s before good coffee became standard)
- The bill included multiple overcharges, including deserts we did not have.

DO NOT RECOMMEND.

First time here, they let us park our large camper in the car park and the staff were all brilliant. A lovely quintessential old English pub that served delicious food. The Sun Inn pub that is opposite and with the same ownership served us a fabulous breakfast the next day. Totally recommended. Thank you to all concerned.

Had an amazing lunch with my family in this lovely quirky English pub. The food was superb and the service exceptional! There were more of us than was originally expected and a bigger table was found quickly and without issue, menu has excellent choices and specials board had a fantastic mix of dishes - such as sea bass etc with a lovely selection of veg for 9 quid!
The pudding selection was amazing - I had a bread and butter pudding that had chocolate and orange in it with lots of custard. Extra custard was also provided for my Dad and Aunty who both love custard! Exceptional value, great atmosphere and wonderful service from a really lovely smiley lady (who may have been the manager).

Took my elderly mum here for Birthday lunch mid October, but the restaurant and bar areas were cold. Open fires in both areas but neither were lit. You would expect some form of heating at this time of year. We were quite chilly and waited a long time for our meals. The food was good when it arrived as it always is, but not a pleasant wait being so cold. Wrap up warm if you visit!

Real shame to find this lovely looking country pub with the makings to be amazing and was let down for several reasons. The fire which was roaring upon our arrival was left to go out and when I asked the waitress she said” there is no logs left”at 13:00 on Sunday afternoon. The meal was extremely underwhelming, we both ordered ‘Homemade’ broccoli and stilton soup to start which was package soup and not homemade with a part baked white baguette. We then ordered a roast(chicken and vegetarian) which were the same price. The chicken was dry and cooked from a shop bought foil tray so wasn’t a proper roast chicken. The potatoes were roasted on one edge, the dauphinoise potatoes hadn’t even seen the cream and tasted bland. the whole meal lacked that homemade feel we were expecting. The price was wrong from the website which we had to point out. The server was clueless to how to serve and brought stone cold plates out with a serving cloth! He also sneezed into his arm and proceeded to wipe his nose and mouth and the handed out serviettes rather than going to wash his hands, is big no no especially in the current climate! For the best part of £50 I cannot recommend this establishment for you to waste your money. Nobody was accountable for the mistakes and nobody appeared to correct the situation as was left to inexperienced staff who were clueless. As a last thing. I have just read some other reviews six months ago saying pricing is wrong on the website, and that it is out of date …..six months in my opinion is done on purpose so people pay more without realising. False advertising and should be updated to be fair. Anyway rant over! Just don’t like being misled.
