I've just returned from staying at The Sportsman Inn on Saturday night with 3 friends after we enjoyed a long day walking around the Kinder Scout area of the Peak District.

The Sportsman Inn was perfectly positioned for the walk that we had planned and also offered a maximum of three rooms of accommodation which was precisely what we required.

We parked in reserved customer parking on the road outside the Inn, went walking for the day and returned around 1700 to check in. We were greeted very hospitably by Leesa who showed us to our rooms briefly and gave us our keys and was very understanding that we needed a sit down and a pint after a long day!!

The rooms were clean and quiet, good shower facilities, tea/coffee in the room, everything we could need.

We had booked a table in the restaurant as we were advised that it can get busy. We ate around 1800 and the restaurant was beginning to fill up at that stage. Three of us had Fish & Chips and one had a Burger. All the food was very good and there was nothing left on the plate. Whether that was a testament to the food or how hungry we were after walking all day, we will never know!!

The service in the restaurant was always polite, prompt and accommodating and the seating was comfortable and relaxed.

Breakfast is included as part of the accommodation and we all had a very filling and tasty breakfast. Unlimited tea/coffee/orange juice, cereal/toast, etc plus a full cooked breakfast and I enjoyed the vegetarian option.

The staff were fully accommodating at all times whilst creating a relaxed and friendly environment to eat & sleep.

If I'm in the area again and require accommodation, the first port of call will be The Sportsman Inn.

A really lovely place to stay. Amazing food, generous portions, quality products and very well presented. The staff were friendly and accommodating too. The room was great. We’ll decorated and spotlessly clean. Will definitely come again. Thankyou 🙏😄

A lovely place, run by lovely people, in a beautiful part of the world. It's a proper countryside pub, very cosy inside, with lots of space outside. If you're staying over, the rooms are a bit old fashioned, but tidy and clean. The breakfast is great.

Just been for a meal here and I can safely say the food here is excellent! I loved it! It's all homemade and the chefs put a lot of care into what they make! The staff were very friendly. This was a fabulous end to an amazing holiday!

Go here often. Dog friendly. Really nice staff and brilliant food. For lunch, they do truly amazing platters for sharing and their chunky chips are 10 out of 10

Exceptional beers - this is a place that cares about quality. Good, hearty pub grub and personal and friendly service. What else do you want after a hike in the hills?!

Very friendly staff. The Sunday lunch was delicious with a choice of lamb or beef, or you could have some of each. Very good.

Went for lunch as was highly recommended the food was lovely and the pub was clean and tidy my only down point was when we were seated no others where in so we were given a table to the left as you come in not a problem. A couple came in with a dog who sat on the table behind us again no problem we knew dogs were allowed, my gripe comes when a few walkers came in asked to sit at the table next to us and the girl (who gave us our table) said no that’s where dogs and their owners sit (we didn’t have a dog) if it hadn’t of been for that comment I would have never have thought anything of it but for her to clearly say that knowing we could hear was in my mind unacceptable. Would I come here again…. For the food yes I would.
