Just shared a beef and Guinness pie and a pork, cider and apple pie for dinner and what a treat it was!! Fabulous pastry, very tender, succulent meat and delicious gravy with both. Will definitely be back for more pies, trying the bread and really looking forward to having a meal in the pub! What a local treasure.

Just called in for drinks so can't comment on rooms nor food.
Nice sized pub with a good range of beers at an average price.
Nicely decorated and lots of tables.
Highly recommended amongst the usual town pubs.

One of the best pies and mash I’ve ever tasted. Very friendly staff. Lovely Guinness.

Went here for a evening meal after enquiring at lunch time when we arrived there was no chef and only one choice pie and chips. Food ok ? . Disappointing. Would not go again. I don't often give negative reviews

Really good Sunday carvery. Great selection of veg etc, all nicely cooked and interesting rather than just bland boiled stuff like you get at a lot of carveries. Can choose two out of four meat options and several vegetarian choices too, everything was really well cooked and tasty. Roast potatoes were great too which is one of the hardest things to do well on a carvery. I live nearby so definitely need to come here more and will do in future. Have also had the pies here which are just as good as the roast!

I really enjoyed the roast / carvery. It was spot on for the price and quality. A nice full plate.

I called into the bakery this morning at approx 11:00 (it is a pub/ restaurant as well) it appeared closed, then I heard the sound of someone unlocking the door. I bought a loaf of white sourdough ( one two in the basket) and asked if was fresh baked today, to which the owner said "yes". In felt rather hard, I returned home to find my suspicions were correct... It was in fact at a day old. I phoned and complained, and told it probably baked at 4:00 am, complete tosh.

The staff here are so lovely. We came for lunch and had the steak and Guinness and steak and blue cheese pies with chips, peas and gravy. Everything was delicious and all homemade! We took some bread and cakes home from the on-site bakery too. Added bonus was how clean and welcoming everything was. Can't wait to come back
