Exceptionally friendly staff, lovely well kept rooms in a stunning quiet village. Good walking about the mere and the church. Food was very hearty and decent. Bar has darts snooker and masses a great company. Was especially delighted by the staff here, name the breakfast was a joy to rise to each morning. Best thing off all; dog friendly. Thank you Hanmer!

We took my partners Dad for Sunday lunch. Wow what an absolutely amazing meal. A choice of 5 meats and plenty of vegetables too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely go back again.

We were a large party of 9, arrived on time,7pm.drinks order taken, and delivered although 2 were incorrect, food order taken then the wait started, about 45 minutes in all.
The food was hot and very tasty. Puds ordered and yet another 35 minutes wait. Good food good atmosphere, shame about the slow service.i would recommend as overall a good night was had by all

Lovely quaint not-so-little pub with rooms. There are lots of rooms in the pubs, which means that you are always likely to find some space to sit down, without the place losing its typical village pub feel. The roasts, à la carte menu, and breakfast were all varied, tasty, and reasonably priced with generous portions. The rooms are clean and comfortable, perhaps a little dated. Above all, the hospitality is exceptional; Matthew the manager is so kind and accommodating, really making us feel welcome and answering any questions. The surrounding area is so beautiful as well - definitely worth a visit.

A booking was made for 13.30 for a group of 10. We arrived earlier and was shown to the room where our table was. It took about 10 minutes before our drink order was taken. We were told because of Covid that tables were going up one at a time, so not sure why we were told at booking the time was 13.30 when we were not able to go up to the carvery until 14.10, so a 40 minute wait. The meat was tender and a good choice of veg, crispy roast potatoes and creamy mash. Only broccoli was a little on the firm side. The only thing about having to wait so long was that the dining chairs were not padded. They were very hard and were most uncomfortable to sit on. Maybe the seating around the bar area is more comfortable. Couldn't fault the food at all. 5 stars for the food but only gave 3 stars overall because of the wait and uncomfortable chairs.

Lovely Saturday afternoon lunch for our table of four. Feels cosy and welcoming, nice decor. Ordered from the light bites menu, all really good portions- fried chicken and skin-on fries, club sandwich (huge!), fish brioche sandwich, and kids chicken popcorn meal. Friendly staff. Specials board include mackerel, prawns, or lobster mac n' cheese. Really enjoyed our visit, will defo return... 😃

Nice location, nice decor. Staff nothing to much trouble. Kitchen staff will go the extra mile to cater for any dietary needs. You would have to be pretty fussy to find any fault with this place.
