Highly recommend The Prince Of Wales. Friendly staff who are attentive & accommodating. Wonderful evening meals served daily. Plenty of atmosphere & local history on display within the pub.

Nice pub walked from Rhymney Hotel. Not much beer on offer but what I had was OK.

Host was late for check in , was also quite unwelcoming and we were given no information in regard to breakfast etc. Room was dusty with rubbish in the bins, the quilt had a stain on it, the toilet was uncleaned, the decor is dated, the bed was a squeaky old hospital bed that you were scared to move in for fear of it breaking , no milk or teabags to even make a brew all weekend. The whole outside area is untidy with tools and broken objects left lying around. The breakfast was poor and a tiny portion with cold toast and overcooked greasy bacon...all 1 rasher of it!...didn't even bother going for it on the second morning. The actual pub/dining area had washing everywhere and more random belongings just lying about all over the place.
Was highly overpriced for what we actually experienced.

We were here to spend a few days at Bike Park Wales which was only a 12min drive away. This was a perfect place to stay for this sort of trip- room was spacious so we could sort out kit in there, shower was hot for when we got home wet and muddy, and the landlord and lady would serve us up our dinner nice and early so we could get an early night before the next big day on the hill. The breakfast and dinners were just what we needed- generous portions and tasty, and excellent value! We were also lucky enough to be here for new years eve- we ended up part of a wonderful party with live music and dancing all night. We were told the keyboardist and singers gather there every Monday so we'll make sure to stay on a Monday next time we head down for a few days of biking! The highlight of the trip was definitely the owners however- we loved our morning chats with John and felt well looked after throughout our stay.

We booked through Booking.com for 1 night, but when arrived at the hotel, the owner just told us that it is no any room available for us. He knew that we had a confirmation from Booking, but he didn't gave us any explanation. He cancelled our booking after that, not before we arrived at the hotel. His attitude was very rude and I didn't understand why. We remained in the street with 2 children with just a 'sorry ' without another reason. 😒 I'm really disappointed.
