I'm a member and I'm more than happy with the gym. Staff are pretty friendly and I've always found it to be pretty clean, too. Considering it's one of the cheapest in Cambridge, the program of classes is reasonably varied, too.

My main complaint would be about the steam room... seems that half the time it's not working, and when it is, it isn't very hot or very steamy. And I agree that the reception staff are more interested in chatting among themselves than acknowledging or helping any customers. I think this is even worse since they introduced the system of 'scan yourself in'. Now the staff don't have to interrupt their chat even to swipe the members' cards. Still, it's cheap and convenient. You get what you pay for, I suppose.

I didn't go to the gym but rather the sports store and I found the place large, adequately stocked, staff were friendly & prices quite reasonable. I came here on a Sunday afternoon around 15:30.

The gym floor is good with a good range of equipment but it isn't looked after well. Things often out of order and very slow to repair. The main gym has been refitted quite recently but they've never done the changing rooms, showers or toilets and they are very poor. They are dirty and old and lots of the showers don't work properly and are often out of soap. There are often only one or two hairdryers working and I've complained at the gym and to their head office and they just don't care. They couldn't even bother to reply. Customer service is very poor and it comes from the top down. It is cheap so I suppose you get what you pay for but it's been noticeably quite since Pure Gym opened. I've been a long loyal customer but it means nothing and they are tough over contracts so beware!

I joined here about 2 weeks ago. Currently there are 5 machines broken, that is both cable machines, both seated row machines and the lat pull down. I was told by staff in the first week not to leave and that they will get fixed. This didn't happen so I went through to membership services to make a complaint and cancel. They said I can't cancel because I used the gym too many times within the cooling off period. Staff and membership services all have the same poor attitude. In addition the toilets showers and the spa area are absolutely disgusting. No soap or shower gel. Awful place

Extremely dirty. Images speak for themselves. No toilet paper. No paper roll in the gym area. Nobody cares about cleaning or basic maintenance. Plus, one of the Jacuzzis has been broken for weeks. The other one is far too hot, despite having reported this they haven't done anything.

Be careful when you sign their contract! I wanted to cancel my membership after six moths of going to the gym, due to the fact that the changing rooms, showers and toilet always looked very dirty. There was also something that looked like fungal growth in the swimming pool. However, their standard contract is written in that way that you cannot cancel your membership within the first 12 months of the contact! And they just do not want to hear anything.

Very poor gym in general. Filthy, rusty and lime showers and splashing water everywhere. Also, filthy changing rooms always, the cleaner spend the hours talking and looking likes is doing something, really awful. The only benefits they had, it was bags for wet clothes and they now don't refill anymore. Always machines out of order even though it have been changed a couple of months ago and takes long time to be fixed. In top of this, they have increased the membership to £38.. awesome

I signed up for a 12 month contract in October. Under the terms and conditions, you are entitled to opt out of this membership if you have moved to an area 5 miles from your home club. In March, I not only moved 5 miles from the home club, I moved country. I provided the required proof from the landlord of the changed address. Upon receiving this proof, the staff said they'll update their database system and the direct debit should stop taking money out of my account in one month. For the next 3 months, the direct debit was still taking money from my account, so I called them and they reassured me saying the direct debit should stop. After another month, I decided to cancel my direct debit since I didn't want to pay money when I was not going to the gym, since I was in another country. It is now October, 1 year from starting the membership, and I received a call from DW asking to pay my outstanding debt. I explained to them my situation, and they said they'll take a note of that and everything should be sorted out. I received an email today that they have appointed a third party to collect my outstanding debt to DW...
