Anytime Fitness Ilford

I joined this gym 5 months ago and it was a great gym initially. Since then the management has changed twice and at the moment the current manager is managing the Enfield branch too. Things have gone really downhill and the manager can clearly only focus his attention on one gym. Please find below a list of issues with the gym and attached pictures to show evidence:

•Most of the benches are ripped and there are only three useable benches in the whole gym – it can be quite hard to get one during peak hours when it gets busy
•A number of lights aren’t working so we have to train in poor lighting
•The vending machines are always out of order
•There is currently no AC! When they do turn it on, it’s leaking– this was (and still is) unbearable during the heatwave when temperatures were 38 and 39
•The cable machine in the picture has been out of order for over 3 months
•The door lock has been broken for the bathroom for a few weeks
•The hand sanitiser has run out and it has been empty for over a week

All of the above has been communicated on numerous occasions however, any requests have been ignored.

There is a young kid who is often at the front desk in the evenings. He is rude, disinterested and most recently told myself and other long standing members to, "go elsewhere" if we were unhappy!

Members of the gym management team have suggested that the actual owner is completely disinterested in resolving the simple issues with the gym...avoid!!

This used to be a great gym, especially when David was the manager, however management has changed twice since then and at the moment the individual managing it, is also managing the Enfield branch, but clearly he can only focus his attention on one gym...and it's not this one!

Majority of the benches are ripped, the AC has been out of use for almost two months, a cable machine has been broken for a similar amount of time, a number of lights are not working, a vending machine has been out of use for a while - all of this has been communicated to management on multiple occasions, through the appropiate channels, but has been ignored.

The manager is very rarely present, the young kid who is often at the front desk is rude and disinterested and most recently told myself and other long standing members to, "go elsewhere" if we were unhappy!

Members of the gym management team have suggested that the actual owner is completely disinterested in resolving the issues with the gym...avoid!!

Avoid this gym! The decline of the Anytime Fitness Ilford branch is apparent from the most recent reviews. Issues include (but not limited to):

- Broken equipment that has not been replaced since I joined this gym 3 years ago.
- AC not working. Despite the heatwave and numerous complaints from the majority of members, no action was/has been taken
- Toilets out of order/locks which don't actually work
- Vending machines that are never stocked appropriately
- Constant changes of staff (no doubt down to the frustrations they have themselves with how the gym is managed)

This gym is going down hill fast!

There are never any staff in.

Equipment such as benches are in short supply and have tears/holes in them.

Equipment is also being actively removed from the gym

AC is barely working during this period of high heat

Avoid this gym until they decide to fix the issues

Use to be a great gym, but with new management it has become more of a womens gym. The gym is focussing on women and leaving the men second.

The extra room used to be for everyone is now exclusive to women, which I have no problem with, however both the hip adductor and hip abductor leg machines have been moved to the women''s room, this is unacceptable as men still need these two machines

Also the general upkeep needs to be improved leg extension machince leather is damaged and digs into the back of the knee when doing leg extension this makes it uncomfortable to use .

There is alot of space of floor space yet the machines are so close together u can almost injure yourself trying to add on a weight plate.

one of the cable machine has been out of order for three weeks and the other is damaged but usable.

I would have given zero stars if it was possible.

This Gym is definitely going below standards. The Issues raised in other reviews are true. Toilet Locks, water Taps not working, A/c not working, and water leaks from A/c on floor. Equipment's not maintained. Fail to Understand such big Gym brand cannot even repair broken equipment's, which even Budget Gyms do regularly. Even recently more equipment's have been moved out of the gym, and even the Treadmills in bad condition. This Gym is definitely going Downhill. It used to be a Good maintained one earlier.

Been here over three years and this gym was phenomenal when Mandy and Dave managed this gym. however issues galore since the new manager has taken over - the same man who manages the Enfield branch. Yes him! I train every weekday at 5.15am.

Stood outside this morning as couldn’t access the Exchange. Called security this morning to find out that the gym has permanently closed, by security. No notice or email or anything. Equipment had been going , probably to the Enfield branch or not I don’t know. He is an awful manager and honestly in my entire career I have not come across a pathetic individual who cannot run such a place. Guess I’ll have to move gyms now after being a loyal user for three years. No member feedback was acted upon. As the famous saying goes, he cannot even organise a “pissup in a brewery “.

I've been a member for around 4 years, and quite disappointed to say where this gym was actually managed & maintained well in the past, its the opposite now;- equipment goes missing or gets swapped out. No communication/correspondence on any of this to keep the members up-to-date on what is going on i.e. why do all of the treadmills disappear in the middle of the day? Why has some machines been taken away? Now a vending machine is gone... If you're looking to close, then do let your members know with some notice. Appalling way to treat your members.
