I have been to a funeral service here in 1971 it was a tearful goodbye. It's sad to see it's not open to such occasions.

Saint James' Church, Accrington has a light ring of twelve bells. All of the bells were cast by John Taylor and Co. of Loughborough. The heaviest eight bells, The Back Eight, were cast in 1953. The ring was augmented to ten bells with two lighter bells added in 1967. This was further augmented in 1974 with the addition of two trebles to give the current ring of twelve. The tenor bells weighs 578 kg and the ring is in the key of G. The local ringers have a regular practice on a Friday night.
