St Martin's is a surprisingly large and often lively church not far from Epsom town centre. For a parish church, the physical size of St Martin's is unusual, rivalling some smaller cathedrals, and at times it has been difficult to fill this space. I remember Christmases with very empty pews. Lately, however, there have been some redesigns, with a toilet, children's room and coffee bar added in the nave, and a new attitude from the pulpit that seems to have drawn larger congregations. The church also has an active Sunday school, a sizeable organ, a team of well-regarded campanologists and a half decent choir.

Visited for the first time on the 58th wedding anniversary of my parents, at exactly the time my mum was walking in. Sadly it was closed for work, but managed to get in with one of the workmen. A beautiful church

This is the old parish church, pre-dating the town and nowhere near the town centre. However, the only mediaeval bit is the tower. The nave is early 19th Gothic, the chancel early 20th century ditto and they obviously ran out of money to rebuild it all. The result is rather weird. In October 2019 it was closed on weekdays for re-wiring, but at least they had the courtesy to put up explanatory notices. Good graveyard.

Good venue for a children’s birthday party although very little parking and it is upstairs although there is a goods lift.

Good Friday. The right day for a visit to this church whilst visiting my Aunt who lives here in Epsom. A quintet of Cellists played in the knave. The reading was of the last supper. Candles were lit in remembrance of close family members.
Peaceful, especially with the sunshine adding light to the experience. A lot of people to pray for!
