St Mary's Church, Wollaston

The oldest parts of the building date to about 1300, and the location, not far from Beacon Hill Motte castle and the priory (Hickmire) may reflect earlier use of the site - which has been found to include Saxon burials from 1050ca. Huge windows reflect a disaster when part of the church collapsed in 1735 and was then rebuilt. Not beautiful. Free parking on roads nearby.

At Mary's is a lovely old church. The grounds have many old and interesting gravestones.
