Be very careful if purchasing from this auction house. They will knowingly sell damaged items without mentioning this on the listing. If you are unfortunate enough to buy a damaged item and then question it with them afterwards, you will get the response of "should have asked for a condition report ", a response which they believe exonorates them of any type of moral obligation to be honest. Avoid.

Terrible Servive from 1818 auctioneers,I bid online and was successful in buying a small bag of vintage golf clubs,I buy these regularly from auctions all over the country and get them posted out to me,they do offer a p&p service but was told these are too large to post (which they are not)i asked if the underbidder would like to buy them if I couldn't collect,but was told by Dawn I could donate them to charity if I wanted (£95) I paid for them.No help whatsoever and one to avoid if your bidding ONLINE!!

Excellent, friendly service from this local auctioneer. I've read the previous negative comments and would say 1/Caveat Emptor - ask for a condition report, it's free 2/ Make your own delivery arrangements MBE (Mailboxes Inc are nationwide and cheap). I would highly recommend them.

Great most of the time BUT. don’t buy electrical items they are not pat tested.for actual use. Just for safety And you can’t check before buying or leaving the site. If it’s broken they will blame your transportation methods. My item was a tv. Packed carefully wrapped in a sheet. And covered with a large chair cushion. And a seat belt partly wrapped around it. Obviously not enough. VERY good most of the time. But don’t deal with complaints well. CAVEAT EMPTOR
I believe the tv was only tested for safety. And wasn’t tuned in or an aerial connected which would have highlighted the problem ALSO
I believe that they are complacent as most customers are satisfied. And ignore the 5 %. Which is sadly a common trait amongst companies that become to. large That percentage will increase over time if they persist in poor quality control and bad practice

I buy and sell with dozens of auctions all over the country on a weekly basis, first time and last time with this place.
Bought 1 lot at £550 hammer, a group of very small items as they say they use Royal Special Delivery. They don't seem to know what they are doing, I even had to give them the link to the RM website to book it in and to be collected from them after I was quoted over £50 using Parceltogo/Parcelforce(where was my Special delivery?) Royal Mail Special Delivery is £16.45 for over 10kg and value £1000. This is where it gets good....I sat waiting patiently to then see after a week it was still at their address as they say RM hadn't bothered to collect it...Hmmm?! I contacted them only to be told that it was my choice to use the cheaper option(special delivery) so made to feel it was my fault. The manager then rang me back as Id had enough of the same person in the office talking to me like I was being chastised. He basically came on the phone to say the same thing as her, he eventually relented after I pointed out(not for the first time) that their literature states they use Special Delivery, and he said he would take the parcel to the PO himself. Terrible service and awful manners. DO NOT USE. There are plenty of auctions who have lovely people to deal with.

Had a few dealings with this auction house over time, id already been warned by family and friends never to use, as they had bad experiences with them, and they had switched to other friendlier auction houses,
I now understand why, they have the most discourteous, obstructive, unaccommodating, and unenlightenment staff we have ever come across,
I kept this review short, as I wouldn’t waste anymore time talking about them. But now understand all the other poor reviews on Facebook.
