I immediately phoned dell, and they asked me to bring the car back. The next morning I dropped the car off again and within a few hours they told me a coolant pipe had come loose and that was the issue. As I was away for a few days at this point, I asked if they could make sure there was nothing else causing the leaking before I came to collect it.
Just a few days later, the car lost coolant again, and I phoned Dell for a third time. I took the car back in, and they found that the thermostat housing was leaking. I approved the work for this to be fixed and by the end of these three visits I had spent about £1,000 on having the coolant leaks rectified.
It was rather inconvenient having to take the car back three times for the same problem, and I do wonder if this could have all been sorted the first time when Dell had the car for over a week.
Flash forward a month or so, it was time for the car to have it's MOT. I decided to use Dell only because they at least knew the car to some extent. Unfortunately the car failed it's MOT, which wasn't suprising. I did expect it to need considerable work to get through the MOT. I asked Clive on the phone to quote for the work, however he explained it would be time consuming for them to quote for the work and it might be best not to pour any money into it.
I found this frustrating as I'd already known I wanted to get the car through the MOT regardless of costs, and these comments seemed to come with complete disregard for the fact that I had already spent around £1,000 with them just weeks before getting the coolant issues fixed. I feel like perhaps, with the amount of time they had the car for previous issues, they might have been able to mention the rust being a potentional problem for the MOT. All in all, just left a little bit of a sour taste in my mouth and felt a little ripped off being told not to pour any money into it, after substantional investment prior.
I took the car away from Dell and to a specialist who were confused in partiuclar by the rust causing an MOT failure according to Dell, as he explained it was not within the prescribed area. I feel embrassed writing this much, but especially after my much better experiece with the new garage, I felt obliged to share my experience at Dell.
