Excellent very helpful staff. Their Health bread tastes out of this world! Very well recomemended for people suffering ailments. Does take two three months to work, eating a slice or two a day! But well worth it! Very clean bakers and always happy to serve you. Best Bakery in Southampton if not Hampshire or even beyond

Wow 5 stars!!! I went to get a meal deal from the Co op next door and noticed they had a meal deal offer in the Bakers so thought I would try them out, i got a normal sized roll with a drink cake and crisps for £3 or if you wanted a large roll for a little bit more, it was really good and the staff were lovely the Ower was there and he was such a nice guy I couldn't recommend them more!!!!

On the face of it this is a 'old school' bakery selling fairly standard goods for fairly standard prices. However there is something special about this place, which I guess is linked to a personal sense of nostalgia, as it seems to be a real time warp gem. It's a dying breed of local family run buisness which forms a community hub, trades fairly, and is not trying to grow or maximise profits etc. The biscuits taste great ( just like the biscuits I used to get from my local bakery as a child!). Their sourdough bread is also a great recipe - better than M&S, Sainsbury's etc.

As someone who actively tries to avoid buying any unnecessary plastic, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor when I opened the seemingly innocently paper packaged 'well-being bread' to find every two slices of bread wrapped individually. I have never seen this before!!
To give some credit to the lady in the shop, she mentioned something about it being freezer packed, but I just thought perhaps there was some extra padding inside the paper pack.
It seems crazy to me that during a time where the planet is in a crisis with plastic we are still ignoring the facts and worse still, contributing to the problem with using packaging that is not only completely unnecessary (I can freeze bread without it being individually wrapped) but also by using materials that can't be recycled and/or aren't sustainable.
I'm sure that you have plenty of tasty bread, but please look at the packaging of your products. I go to smaller bakeries in the hope to avoid the single use plastics that supermarkets are hell-bent on giving us, and I'd love to support your bakery if these issues can be fixed.

I bought granary loaf, white loaf and large brown baps, and I think they were all as good as you can get anywhere. Excellent local bakers.
