To not be able to speak directly to the HSBC branch at St. Albans and have to go round the houses through two call centres and be given the same 0845 number and the promise of a call back in 24 hours is just not good enough.
I have not recieved a call back, I need to book an appointment to go in on a Saturday for the simple act of cancelling a bank account with them and the ability to book an appointment directly with the branch is apparently non-existent.
Its not good enough HSBC. Thank God I've got accounts with Natwest who free up time whenever I need them and are truly easy to deal with.

Best bank in town. Always friendly and helpful in the branch. Only one cock-up in 45 years - not a bad result, overall.

(Some sort of mix up between telephone banking and branch and someone being off sick meant that a large transaction on a business account took longer than expected.)

Much much better than some other banks.

Absolutely terrible. Worst bank I have ever experienced. Lied to me 3 times that they weren't charging me fees when receiving international deposits into my account. Cannot even request an account statement be printed at the bank with your address on it. Have to carry a security calculator device everywhere with me just to transfer small amounts of money and log into online banking. International transactions can take up to 6 working days and if transferred on a weekend don't even show on your account as apparently no one works in that department on the weekend. I would call this STONE AGE BANKING.

A good branch - staff come up quickly to check what you need and avoid you wasting time in line. Specialists are in hand, and though the waits are sometimes extended, you keep your place in the queue and do not get bumped off. Overall, very good modern banking.

I had visited the St.Albans branch for a bank account upgrade. Keith is the person who provided me with a very satisfactory service. I really appreciate the hassle free and such a professional service that I received.

Even 1star is too much for this useless branch in town. We filled up forms on the 27th of August for a child account, the staff checked all the documents and told us everything is fine and we will hear from them. Heard nothing for 2 weeks ,popped in again and was told by a lady staff with a hyjab saying I ll get the card in 7 days. Still nothing, so popped in again on the 15th of October only to be told that none of my forms were uploaded and I want be getting any bank account card unless re do all this. What a waste of our time...useless staff and bloody liars. STAY AWAY FROM THIS branch.

I ve been banking with hsbc for 20 years. Unfortunately service keeps going down and down. They changed everything to automated machines which doesn’t work properly most of the time.We needed counter service so I contacted hsbc about this. Area manager got in touch with me and promised post office provides every single service bank does. Does an area manager of a big bank lie? Apparently yes.. He lied to us loud and clear because Post Office is doing none of that. Just a min ago machine retained my %100 legit business card and the guy standing there called bred done absolutely nothing to help. I have so many bills to pay and I don’t know what to do now. I am changing bank asap, no bank would be worse then this. As if like they are there to make life harder and slower for everyone. Like these banks, no surprise UK economy is crumbling. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Useless branch. Just one member of staff who wanders around with a tablet and not a single other member of staff.

No counter service... Literally no point in having a branch open.
